This large-aperture standard zoom lens can cover from ultra-wide angle to standard when mounted on a 35mm-format full-frame digital SLR camera, and has a maximum aperture of 2.8 F-number over the entire focal length range of 24-70mm*.

- High descriptive performance
The new optical system, which is compatible with high-resolution image sensors, has a 12-group, 17-element lens configuration with three elements of special low-dispersion (ED) glass, one element of anomalous low-dispersion glass aspherical lens, and three aspherical lens elements. In addition to ensuring sufficient peripheral light intensity, the lens achieves high MTF by correcting various aberrations to the utmost limit, enabling the photographer to capture detailed images with enhanced contrast and resolution from the center to the periphery. Furthermore, when attached to current K series digital SLR cameras, only the center portion of the image circle is used, allowing users to enjoy more uniform, high-resolution images across the entire image plane.

When attached to a 35mm-format full-frame digital SLR camera, this 2.9x standard zoom lens covers the focal length range of 24-70mm from ultra-wide angle to standard. With a maximum aperture of 2.8 across the entire zoom range, the lens is bright and is the most frequently used focal length range for general shooting. In addition, the lens enables shooting that achieves unique expressive effects such as an emphasis on perspective and deep depth of field characteristic of wide-angle photography, making it suitable for scenes such as vast landscapes and rooms without depth of field. When mounted on a K series digital SLR camera, the lens has a focal length equivalent to 37-107mm in 35mm format, and can be used as a wide-angle to medium-telephoto lens, making it suitable for portrait photography with a large aperture lens that takes advantage of the blur effect of the background, and for handheld photography in dark places such as dusk or indoors.
