- Single focal length lens with the widest focal length in the “XF Lens” series
・This is a single focal length lens with a focal length of 8mm (35mm film equivalent: 12mm), which is the widest angle of view in the “XF Lens” series. With a diagonal angle of view of approximately 121 degrees, it enables ultra-wide-angle photography. It is ideal for shooting scenes with a large amount of information, such as spectacular natural scenery spread out before your eyes.
・The lens is composed of 12 elements in 9 groups, including 3 aspherical lens elements and 2 ED lens elements. The lens suppresses distortion, spherical aberration, astigmatism, and other aberrations to achieve high resolution performance. The lens is capable of capturing every detail of subjects reflected in a wide angle of view, such as branches and leaves in a natural landscape or the minute ornamentation of a majestic cathedral, in high definition. Furthermore, the deep depth of field of a wide-angle lens enables pan-focusing*1 by stopping down the aperture.
・The inner-focusing system is adopted to focus by driving the lens in the middle section. Furthermore, the wide-angle lens features a small distance for the focus lens to move, enabling high-speed AF in as fast as approx. 0.02 sec.*2. The ultra wide-angle angle of view is ideal for dynamic sports photography.

- Compact design makes ultra-wide-angle photography more accessible
・Compact design with a length of approx. 52.8mm and a weight of approx. 215g. By optimally arranging aspherical lenses and ED lenses, an ultra-wide-angle lens, which generally tends to be large, has been made smaller and lighter. It is highly portable and enables comfortable ultra-wide-angle photography.
・The aspherical lens, which suppresses distortion, is positioned on the front side of the lens to achieve a highly versatile 62mm filter diameter. A variety of filters can be used to enjoy shooting with slow shutter speeds and taking advantage of the ultra-wide-angle angle of view to shoot landscapes.
- Dustproof, drip-proof, and -10°C low-temperature resistant construction
・The lens barrel is dustproof, drip-proof, and resistant to temperatures as low as -10°C (-40°F), with seals in 10 locations. In addition, the front element of the lens is coated with a fluorine coating to repel water and stains.
