XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR” dustproof, drip-proof, and low-temperature resistant lens with a maximum aperture of 2.8 across the entire wide zoom range and an advanced optical design that enables ultra-high-quality photography of a wide range of subjects, from landscapes to portraits.

- Optical design to bring out the best image quality as a flagship standard zoom lens
・The lens is composed of 17 elements in 12 groups to achieve the best image quality in its class for a standard zoom lens with F2.8 brightness over the entire zoom range. Three aspherical lens elements suppress spherical aberration and distortion, and three ED (anomalous dispersion) lens elements suppress chromatic aberration to achieve high resolving power across the entire zoom range, all the way to the corners of the image.
・The entire surface of the lens is coated with Fujifilm's proprietary HT-EBC (High Transmittance Electron BeamCoating) multilayer coating process to suppress ghosting and flare, resulting in sharp, clear images. The lens also employs our proprietary nano GI coating technology. This coating technology suppresses light reflection by gently controlling the refractive index of light in the air as it enters the lens, effectively reducing ghosting and flare even when light enters the lens at an oblique angle.
・The 9 circular aperture blades produce a smooth circular bokeh effect. The spherical aberration that affects the bokeh effect has been minimized to achieve beautiful bokeh in both the foreground and background.
・The combination of this lens and an “X series” body(*2) that is compatible with “Point Image Restoration Processing”(*1), which maximizes lens performance, corrects diffraction(*3) that occurs when shooting at a smaller aperture based on the lens's optical performance and characteristics to produce sharp images with high resolution.
*1: A unique image processing function that sharply corrects optical effects caused by diffraction and other phenomena based on the optical performance of each lens.
*2: As of January 2015, FUJIFILM X-T1/X-T1 Graphite Silver and FUJIFILM X-E2 are compatible.
*3: A phenomenon in which a fine image that should be sharp becomes blurred when the aperture is stopped down to take a picture.

- High-speed, high-precision, and quiet autofocusing
・The focusing system uses an inner focus system (*4) that achieves high-speed AF.
・By combining this lens with an “X series” body (*2) that supports phase detection AF, you can comfortably shoot with a high-speed AF of 0.06 seconds (*5) at the fastest. The quiet shutter sound and the silent AF with linear motors allow you to take pictures without disturbing the atmosphere of the space in which you are shooting.
・The AF is performed by the signal from the imaging sensor, which enables highly accurate AF compared to single-lens reflex cameras, which use a dedicated sensor for AF.
*4: A method in which the relatively small lens in the middle or rear part of the lens is moved without moving the front part, which consists of relatively large lenses.

・The AF is performed using the signal from the imaging sensor, which enables more precise AF than with single-lens reflex cameras, which use a dedicated sensor for AF.

- Dustproof, drip-proof, -10°C low-temperature resistant construction
The lens barrel is dustproof, drip-proof, and resistant to temperatures as low as -10°C (-40°F), with 14 sealing points on each part of the barrel. Combined with the FUJIFILM X-T1, a premium mirrorless camera designed to be dustproof, drip-proof, and resistant to low temperatures, the X-T1 supports photography in any situation.

- High-quality appearance and comfortable operability
・The X-T1 is equipped with a focus ring and aperture ring made of metal. The exterior is made of metal parts for a high quality appearance. The emphasis is placed on the texture that can be felt in the fingertips when turning the rings and on a moderate torque feeling, allowing comfortable shooting even during manual focusing, which requires delicate operations. The lens mount is made of brass for added strength.
・When the lens is mounted on an “X series” body, it weighs only 60%(*6) of a full-size sensor SLR camera with the same focal length and F value as the lens, greatly reducing the burden on the photographer and providing overwhelming ease of use.
・The camera can also be operated manually to focus smoothly without having to operate any buttons, etc. (*7) even after the shutter release is pressed halfway to focus with autofocus. This allows for comfortable operation even when fine-tuning the focus after auto-focusing.
