High-performance motorized standard zoom lens ideal for 4K video shooting in Super 35mm/APS-C format.
- This G lens is compatible with the Super 35mm/APS-C format, which has become the standard in professional video shooting, by thoroughly pursuing the performance and operability required for video shooting.
- The G lenses are compatible with the PXW-FS7 II professional camcorder, the α6500 mirrorless SLR camera, and the α7 series of 35mm full-frame compatible cameras, and can be used with the automatic crop function (when an APS-C lens is attached, the camera will automatically crop and the viewfinder will automatically display an APS-C size image in full screen). This function allows users to enjoy high-quality movie shooting.
- The lens has a maximum aperture of F4 throughout the entire zoom range, while providing a zoom range of 18-110mm (equivalent to 27-165mm in 35mm format) (*1) from wide-angle to telephoto, and a zoom magnification of 6.1x. For example, it can handle a wide range of angles of view, such as zooming in from a full-body shot to a bust shot when shooting an interview.
- The optical performance of the G lens delivers high resolution for 4K image quality all the way to the periphery of the screen throughout the entire zoom range. Sony's unique SMO (Smooth Motion Optics) mechanism is employed to stabilize images during movie recording.
- The camera is equipped with a sliding focus ring for one-touch switching between AF and MF, and a triple ring for the zoom ring and iris ring, ensuring high operability during video recording. Zooming operation is by a mechanism that switches between servo (motorized) zooming and mechanical manual zooming. The zooming operation is both smooth and direct.
- The low-speed limit of the zoom speed range has been extended to support creative expression through slow zooming (*2). The camera is equipped with an in-lens image stabilizer and is designed to be dustproof and drip-proof (*3), combining high operability and reliability to support professional image production.
