Product Features
Nikon DX-format mirrorless camera with high descriptive power and versatile expressiveness in a compact, lightweight body
- Compact and lightweight body that can be carried smartly
The compact and lightweight body takes advantage of the advantages of the highly mobile Nikon DX format while adopting a design that follows the world view of the Z series, making it easy to take with you wherever you go, whenever you want.
- Sophisticated operability in keeping with Nikon digital SLR cameras
As with the Nikon Z 7/ Z 6, the frequently used ISO button, exposure compensation button, and movie shooting button are located around the shutter release button. This not only provides high operability, but also allows those who are familiar with Nikon digital SLR cameras to operate them intuitively without feeling any sense of discomfort.
- Shooting operations can be completed with the right hand only
The buttons and dials necessary for shooting are concentrated around the shutter release button and on the right side of the top and back of the body. The newly adopted touch keys ("Zoom In," "Zoom Out," "Thumbnail," "Help," and "DISP") are also located on the right edge of the image monitor, allowing you to operate the camera almost exclusively with your right hand.
- Touch panel. Tiltable 3.2-inch 1.04 million-dot image monitor for self-taken pictures
The 3.2-inch, 1.04 million-dot large, high-definition touch panel enables a wide variety of operations, including menu settings, shooting, and pinching and swiping to check focus on an enlarged image. In addition, the monitor can be tilted to any angle within a wide vertical range. Even when deployed upward, the monitor is not blocked by the viewfinder eyepiece, making it difficult to see the monitor, and it can be smoothly deployed upward at low angles while mounted on a tripod, increasing the flexibility of angles for still and video photography. When deployed 180° downward, it can also be easily used for "self portraits.
- 2.36 million-dot electronic viewfinder for natural viewing
The electronic viewfinder with an XGA (approx. 2.36 million dots) OLED panel provides a 100% field of view and a magnification of approx. 1.02x (with a 50mm lens at infinity and -1.0m-1) (* approx. 0.68x on a 35mm film camera equivalent). The viewfinder optics, which utilize Nikon's proprietary optical technologies, and other features provide a clear, natural view with minimal aberration, approaching that of an optical viewfinder.
- Creative Picture Control] for creative expression
The camera is equipped with 20 types of Creative Picture Controls (Dream, Morning, Pop, Sunday, etc.) that enable creative expression in still and moving images. The user can select from a variety of picture creation options while checking the final output through the electronic viewfinder or image monitor, making it easy to achieve the desired result.
- High Image Quality with Z Mount
The Z mount with a large aperture and short flange back is the same as that of the Z 7/Z 6. The Z-mount system provides high image quality with a wide range of NIKKOR Z lenses, from the NIKKOR Z DX zoom lenses released at the same time to FX-format compatible S-Line lenses.
- Nikon DX format CMOS sensor with image phase detection AF pixels for the first time in a Nikon DX format camera
The Nikon DX format CMOS sensor with image phase detection AF pixels is used as the image sensor. The camera's effective pixel count is 20.88 megapixels, with excellent high-sensitivity performance from ISO 100 to 51200 (*Sensitivity can be increased up to ISO 204800 equivalent). In conjunction with the latest EXPEED 6 image processing engine, noise is effectively suppressed while maintaining resolution even at high sensitivities. The camera delivers excellent descriptive performance with high resolution that cannot be achieved with entry-level models of smartphones or digital SLR cameras.
- SnapBridge" for direct connection via built-in Wi-Fi
The camera can be directly connected to a smartphone/tablet with SnapBridge Ver. 2.6 or later installed, without Bluetooth pairing, via built-in Wi-Fi. High-speed transfer of original images (RAW/JPEG) and remote operation of the camera are possible.
- Full-frame 4K UHD video
4K UHD (3840 x 2160)/30p video can be captured in [DX-based video format] full frame. In addition, Full HD/120p is also supported. Creative Picture Control can also be applied to movies, making it easy to enjoy shooting videos with your own unique tastes.
- Built-in flash useful in dark or backlit conditions
The camera is equipped with a built-in flash with a guide number of approximately 7 (ISO 100/m, 20°C). Slide the flash pop-up lever to pop it up when needed. It is effective not only in dark scenes such as night scenes, but also in eliminating shadows on people's faces caused by backlighting or hats.
