Streamlined user interface and new menu structure

The main settings related to photography can be quickly and easily made by touch using the LCD monitor on the back of the camera. The main controls are a click wheel, joystick, and three buttons conveniently located on the left side of the LCD monitor. These controls provide simple operability. In addition, by separating the menu items for still image shooting from those for movie shooting, it is now possible to make separate settings for each type of shooting.

Even with the Leica TL2, which has a smaller image sensor than the Leica SL2, or with the TL lens designed for the Leica CL, the camera can capture images with a high image quality of 20 megapixels or more.

Optical image stabilization mechanism with image sensor shift system

One of the major advancements in the Leica SL2 is a new function that compensates for camera shake quickly and efficiently by moving the image sensor in the direction that cancels out blurring in response to camera shake. The in-body image stabilization mechanism makes it possible to take pictures with minimal camera shake even without an image stabilization mechanism, such as SL-system single focal length lenses and M-system lenses.

EyeRes Electronic Viewfinder with Higher Resolution

The EyeRes electronic viewfinder now features a higher resolution of 5.76 million dots. This allows photographers to take pictures more comfortably while viewing a natural and large display. The touch panel LCD monitor is also now 3.2" in size with 2.1 million dots, making it even easier to operate with a larger, higher resolution screen.

The LEICA MAESTRO III image processing engine further improves high-speed performance

The LEICA MAESTRO III image processing engine has been newly adopted. This significantly improves the processing performance and speeds up various shooting functions. The new LEICA MAESTRO III also delivers even faster autofocusing, allowing the photographer to shoot with an extremely short shutter lag time under any circumstances. A new autofocus function is the Intelligent AF function, which allows the camera to automatically switch between AFs and AFc depending on the subject's movement. In addition, the camera is capable of high-speed continuous shooting at 10 frames per second at the maximum number of recorded pixels when using the mechanical shutter, and at 20 frames per second at the maximum number of recorded pixels when using the electronic shutter.
