The wide angle of view with a focal length of 24mm and the perspective expression that is not overemphasized allow the camera to be used in a wide range of situations for both still and moving image shooting.
In addition, with a maximum magnification of 0.5x and a minimum focusing distance of 0.14m, the half-macro shooting function allows you to enjoy wide-angle macro shooting with the wide angle of view of the 24mm focal length.
- Bright F1.8 maximum aperture allows for expression with a bokeh effect
The bright F1.8 maximum aperture value allows photographers to enjoy beautifully blurred background and foreground images, as well as expressions that take advantage of the large bokeh effect. The brightness of the aperture allows for fast shutter speeds to minimize blurring of the subject. Furthermore, the optical design with 11 elements in 9 groups, including one "plastic-molded aspherical lens" and one "UD lens*1," reduces various aberrations that can cause image quality degradation, resulting in high image quality.
- Superior image stabilization performance and compact, lightweight design for comfortable still and movie shooting
When combined with an EOS R series camera*3 equipped with an in-body image stabilization mechanism, the camera and lens achieve coordinated control, resulting in an image stabilization effect of 6.5 stops*4 when the EOS R5 (released in July 2020) is attached. Furthermore, the camera is compact and lightweight, with an overall length of only 63.1 mm and a weight of only 270 g, making it easy to carry around and comfortable to use in a variety of situations, such as shooting movies while walking.
