Product Features
- Versatile photographic and video expression utilizing a wide-angle focal length of 15mm to 30mm
The ultra wide-angle focal lengths from 15mm and up enable photographers to take advantage of the ultra wide angle of view to shoot indoors or in narrow spaces where the distance to the subject is not sufficient, and to create dynamic perspective expressions.
At a focal length of 30mm, the camera offers a natural angle of view that is close to that of the eye, and allows photographers to take full advantage of perspective and blurring effects.
Covering a focal length range of 15mm to 30mm, the lens can be used for a variety of shooting scenes, including landscapes, buildings, snapshots, and portraits.
- Combines high image quality with minimal color blur throughout the entire zoom range with compactness and light weight
The optical design with 13 elements in 11 groups, including one "plastic-molded aspherical lens" and two "UD lenses*1," reduces various aberrations that cause image quality degradation and delivers high image quality from the center of the image to the periphery across the entire zoom range.
By effectively arranging plastic-molded aspherical lenses, the optical system consists of a small number of lens elements to achieve excellent image quality while keeping costs down, and at the same time, the lens is compact and lightweight, with an overall length of approximately 88.4 mm and a mass of approximately 390 g.
- 5.5 stops of image stabilization within the lens and 7.0 stops of coordinated control when combined with in-body image stabilization
Optical image stabilization mechanism within the lens provides 5.5 stops*2.
When combined with an EOS R series*3 camera equipped with an in-body image stabilization mechanism, the camera and lens achieve coordinated control, and when the "EOS R5" is attached, the image stabilization effect of 7.0 stops*4 is achieved.
This enables blur-free shooting in situations where camera shake tends to occur at low shutter speeds, such as when shooting hand-held night scenes.
- Expanding the Range of Expression in Close-up and Movie Shooting
Half-macro shooting with a minimum focusing distance of 0.128 m and a maximum magnification of 0.52x is supported when shooting with manual focus, allowing you to take powerful close-up shots of subjects.
In addition to a wide angle of view that makes it easy to shoot indoors and a compact and lightweight design that supports comfortable outdoor walking shots, the camera is equipped with a lead-screw type stepping motor (STM) and natural and smooth tracking AF to meet the needs of video shooting, which is in increasing demand on social networking sites.
