Product Features
- A 7.8x high-power zoom lens that covers diverse scenes with a single lens
Covering a focal length range of 18mm to 140mm*, the NIKKOR Z DX 18-140mm f/3.5-6.3 VR is ideal for capturing dynamic landscapes at the wide-angle end or impressive snaps at the telephoto end with a large background blur to highlight the subject. By carrying a single compact, lightweight, and versatile lens, you can easily capture a variety of scenes you encounter during your travels without having to change lenses and reduce the weight of your photographic equipment.
*Equivalent to the angle of view of a 27mm-210mm lens in FX format and 35mm format
- Equipped with a lens-shift VR mechanism with a 5.0-stop image stabilization effect*.
The camera is equipped with a lens-shift VR mechanism with an image stabilization performance of 5.0 stops* (in accordance with CIPA standards). This allows for worry-free shooting in situations where camera shake is likely to occur, such as at telephoto distances and in dark scenes.
*When using NORMAL mode with a mirrorless camera equipped with an APS-C size image sensor. Measured at the most telephoto side.
- Compact and lightweight body for easy portability
With a weight of approximately 315 g and an overall length of approximately 90 mm*1, the lens can be carried anywhere for long periods of time, reducing the burden of photography. The combination of this lens and the Z 50 is approximately 190g*2 lighter and approximately 31mm shorter than the combination of the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR and the D5600, which covers the same focal length.
*1: From the reference surface of the lens mount to the tip of the lens
*2: Camera weight: Includes battery and memory card, etc., but excludes body cap.
- A short minimum focus distance allows you to enjoy a different kind of expression
Despite being an all-in-one zoom lens, the minimum focusing distance is 0.2m at the wide-angle end and 0.4m at the telephoto end. This allows you to get boldly close to the subject, so there is no need to keep your distance from the subject when shooting table photos, for example. Furthermore, the high maximum magnification of 0.33x at the telephoto end allows the photographer to capture a large image of the subject, so that even the smallest details of the subject can be depicted with a blurred background. At the wide-angle end, the main subject can be dynamically rendered while the background is also captured well.
- High resolution at all zoom ranges for a wide range of situations
Thanks to the large aperture and short flange back of the Z-mount, this all-in-one zoom lens offers both high optical performance and compact size. Regardless of the focal length or shooting distance, the lens delivers high resolving power from the maximum aperture across the entire image range. Furthermore, the use of two ED lenses and two aspherical lenses produces clear images with excellent suppression of various aberrations.
- Effectively reduced axial chromatic aberration
The optical system with two ED lenses effectively corrects chromatic aberration on-axis from close-up to infinity. The lens delivers sharp images with no color blur on the focus plane.
- Aspherical Lenses (2 elements)
Aspherical lenses with non-spherical surfaces on one or both sides can effectively correct various aberrations such as distortion and spherical aberration. Distortion is an aberration (image distortion) caused by the difference in magnification depending on the image height (distance from the center of the image) when the subject is formed through the lens, and can be corrected by continuously changing the refractive power using an aspheric surface from the periphery of the lens center. In addition, a single aspherical lens can provide an aberration correction effect equivalent to that of multiple spherical lenses, contributing significantly to lens miniaturization and weight reduction compared to spherical lenses.
- Silent operation and superior video performance with ease of use
This product pursues high operability not only in still image shooting but also in movie shooting. In addition to high-resolution images, the camera is equipped with STM (stepping motors) in the AF and aperture mechanisms for quieter AF drive. In addition, the camera's design takes into account changes in the angle of view (focus breathing) that occur during focusing, and its high-speed, high-precision AF system with excellent tracking performance keeps the target subject in focus even during zooming, allowing the user to change focus and zoom positions at will. In addition, smooth aperture control stabilizes the exposure and produces images with natural brightness changes and no flickering.
- High operability to obtain images with slow and smooth changes in focus and brightness
A variety of functions can be assigned to the control ring from the camera, such as focus [M/A], aperture value, exposure compensation, and ISO sensitivity, for comfortable and smooth operation.
- High-speed and quiet AF to capture the most important moments
NIKKOR Z lens technology optimized for Nikon Z series cameras delivers fast and quiet AF with minimal fluctuation in the angle of view when adjusting focus. This enables comfortable shooting even in quiet environments such as theaters and cafes.
