Basic Information

Product Name Camera Lens NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR [Nikon Z mount] [Nikon Z / zoom lens
Model No. ZDX50250

Product Features
- High versatility for diverse scenes
The zoom range covers a wide telephoto range, from 50mm for medium telephoto to 250mm for telephoto*. Telephoto photography can be enjoyed in a wide variety of situations such as travel, outdoor life, and sports spectating. The minimum focusing distance is only 0.5 m at the wide-angle end and 1 m at the telephoto end, allowing photographers to get very close to their subjects even though it is a telephoto zoom lens. The STM (stepping motor) is used for the AF drive, and combined with the camera's AF performance, focusing is quiet and quick, and the change in angle of view is minimal, allowing comfortable focusing.

The angle of view is equivalent to that of a 75-375mm lens in 35mm format.

- Short Minimum Focusing Distance for Daring to Get Closer to the Subject
Despite being a telephoto zoom, the minimum focus distance at the wide-angle end is only 0.5 m (1 m at the telephoto end). This allows you to get as close as possible to your subject and take a large photo, just like a close-up.

- NIKKOR's best-ever*1 image stabilization (VR) mechanism
The optical VR mechanism is the most effective in the history of NIKKOR lenses for interchangeable lens cameras, with a high image stabilization performance of 5.0 stops (based on CIPA standards)*2. Not only does it reduce camera shake in telephoto photography, where the effects of blurring can be significant, it also allows the photographer to select a higher aperture value and a lower ISO sensitivity to obtain the correct exposure. This effectively compensates for camera shake even at slower shutter speeds, allowing you to enjoy a variety of expressions with peace of mind.
The VR mode includes the SPORT mode, which provides a stable viewfinder image with minimal blurring, making it easy to track subjects that are moving rapidly and to continue capturing moving subjects even during high-speed continuous shooting. Furthermore, in combination with the Z 50, the camera offers extremely effective motion blur correction in conjunction with the dual-sensing optical VR (available on the Z 50), which precisely calculates the amount of blurring.

*1: As of October 2019. As an interchangeable lens for interchangeable lens cameras.
*2: When using a mirrorless camera with an APS-C size equivalent image sensor. [In [NORMAL] mode. Measured at the most telephoto side.

- Reliable high image quality of NIKKOR Z lenses
The high resolving power of the NIKKOR Z mount lens, with its large aperture, has revolutionized the image of conventional DX kit lenses, reproducing every detail of subjects at any zoom position and at any distance from infinity to close range, and rendering them clearly from the widest aperture setting. In addition, the use of an ED lens (1-element) corrects axial chromatic aberration and effectively reduces color blur to produce beautiful images.

- Quiet and fast focus drive with minimal change in angle of view
Because the NIKKOR Z lens is optimized for mirrorless cameras, it simultaneously achieves the three goals of quietness, speed, and minimal change in angle of view. The lens makes no noise even when focusing in a quiet place, and its high speed and minimal change in angle of view means that you can press the shutter release button and get a sharp, in-focus image without even realizing it.

- Highly silent, with no lens movement or operation noise entering the video
The STM (stepping motor) AF mechanism and aperture mechanism are silent. In addition, the control ring is click-less to minimize operation noise during video recording, enabling video recording with minimal operation and drive noise in situations where you do not want to make noise.

- Smooth operation feel with slow and smooth video changes in focus and brightness
Both the zoom ring and control ring provide a smooth, click-less operating feel. The control ring can be assigned one of the following setting functions: focus (M/A)*1, ISO sensitivity*2, aperture value, and exposure compensation, enabling smooth and quiet shooting operation.

*1: Function to immediately switch to MF by operating the control ring during AF.
*2: Only for Z 50 (supported from 2019.10.10); Z 7 / Z 6 will be supported by firmware update.

- Effective suppression of focus breathing
Effectively suppresses focus breathing, which changes the angle of view as the focus position shifts. This allows the user to obtain natural-looking images with no change in the angle of view even when the focus position is moved to the front or back.

- Aperture control to make changes in image brightness appear natural
An electromagnetic aperture mechanism is used to achieve smooth and flicker-free aperture control. Images with natural-looking changes in brightness can be obtained.

- High portability and mobility
This compact telephoto zoom lens features a retractable mechanism that shortens the overall length of the lens when stored without compromising optical performance. It is easy to carry and can be easily taken on trips. The button-less mechanism allows you to quickly respond to a sudden shutter release opportunity by simply rotating the zoom ring.
