- Newly developed (SilentDrive-Module) with high quietness
The DC motor and reduction gear unit are hermetically sealed as a single unit, resulting in quieter AF drive noise.
- GMR sensor (high-precision magnetic sensor) mounted near the drive unit
The GMR sensor is not a rotation detection sensor normally used for AF control, but a high-resolution, high-precision focus control sensor that enables quick AF speed.
The sophisticated design of the Opera series has also improved operability and feel.
- One-touch focus clutch
The one-touch focus clutch mechanism allows the user to switch from autofocus to manual focus by simply sliding the focus ring back and forth. Since there is no need to operate a switch on the body, the focus ring can be shifted from auto focus to manual focus even with gloves on. The focus ring has an appropriate amount of torque to enable precise focusing even with manual focus.
