Ultra wide-angle lenses are required to provide distortion-free images from corner to corner of the image and are frequently used for photographing architectural structures. By taking advantage of the aspherical lens processing and production know-how accumulated to date, distortion, lateral chromatic aberration, and coma aberration have been corrected by placing glass-molded aspherical lenses in appropriate locations, employing FLD (F Low Dispersion) glass with performance equivalent to fluorite, and optimizing the lens power arrangement. This enables the lens to achieve high descriptive performance all the way to the periphery of the image.

- Adoption of the largest φ80mm aspherical lens in its product class, fully utilizing the latest technology
The SIGMA 12-24mm F4 DG HSM Art features a large-aperture glass-molded aspherical lens with the largest diameter in its class (φ80mm) at the front of the lens. We have succeeded in processing a large aspherical lens of φ80mm in diameter with high precision by utilizing the aspherical lens processing know-how we have cultivated over the years. By using this large aspherical lens at the front of the lens, distortion, spherical aberration, and coma aberration are effectively suppressed.

- F4 Focal Length across the Entire Zoom Range
A maximum aperture of F4, one stop brighter than before, is achieved throughout the entire zoom range. This allows you to select a faster shutter speed, such as to stop the movement of leaves fluttering in the wind. In addition, since the f/4 aperture value does not change with zooming, the camera is easier to use.

- Achieves a minimum shooting distance of 24 cm*.
The ultra-wide-angle perspective allows the photographer to create close-up images of subjects against the backdrop of a magnificent landscape.

- Newly designed HSM for comfortable AF operation
A newly designed large HSM is employed. The newly designed large HSM provides approximately 1.3 times more torque than conventional motors, enabling stable operation even at low speeds.

- Simple dustproof and drip-proof construction adopted for the mount section
A rubber sealing is used at the mount to protect the mount area, which is the most vulnerable area to dust and other contaminants. The front element is coated with a water- and stain-repellent coating to enable shooting in a variety of conditions, such as in the rain or near water where splashes of water may occur.
