This full-size, mirrorless camera-exclusive ultra-telephoto zoom lens delivers the performance, functionality, and build quality required for ultra-telephoto photography at a high level to meet the needs of professional users.
The lens is compatible with 1.4x and 2x teleconverters for L-mount lenses, enabling AF shooting at up to 1200mm.
Accurate and high-speed autofocusing by an AF unit with a high-precision magnetic sensor and an image stabilization OS mechanism with approximately 4 stops* of image stabilization assist in comfortable ultra-telephoto shooting. A zoom mechanism that supports straight-line zooming, dustproof and drip-proof construction, and a variety of customizable switches allow the lens to flexibly respond to any shooting environment or situation.

The 15-group, 25-element lens, based on the latest optical design technology, uses multiple pieces of special glass material to thoroughly suppress aberrations. In addition to the performance at the telephoto end of 600mm, which is important for super-telephoto lenses, the lens delivers high resolution and clear images at all zoom ranges without any compromise. In addition, the out-of-focus portion of the image is also carefully rendered. The compression effect and the beautiful bokeh effect allow the photographer to fully enjoy the image creation that only a super-telephoto lens can provide.
At the wide end (150mm), the minimum focusing distance is 58cm. In addition, the use of a dedicated teleconverter for the L mount enables AF shooting at a maximum distance of 1200mm. The lens offers a high degree of freedom in composition selection and can be used in a variety of shooting situations.
High resistance to flare and ghosting has been achieved through repeated improvements and simulations of optical and mechanical design. The lens maintains a clear, bright image even in strong sunlight and backlit environments.
- 2. High-speed, high-precision AF and extensive functions
The camera is equipped with a full range of functions that meet the Sports line standards for high motion performance.
A stepping motor is used for the AF actuator, providing both quick and quiet autofocusing and high tracking performance to moving objects. In addition, a high-precision magnetic sensor enables accurate positioning even with super-telephoto lenses, which require a large amount of focus lens movement, for fast and highly accurate AF.
The built-in image stabilization OS mechanism provides approximately 4 stops* of compensation, and the OS switch and custom mode switch allow OS settings to be tailored to the photographic application. In addition to the standard focus limiter switch, the custom mode switch for the L-mount version can be set to any focus limiter range by using the USB DOCK. The AFL button, to which any setting can be assigned from the camera side, is equipped in three locations for easy operation no matter how the camera is held or what setting is used.
The camera's high-speed, high-precision AF, powerful image stabilization, and extensive customization functions ensure that you can capture even the briefest of shutter opportunities.

- 3. High build quality optimized for telephoto photography
The build quality and operability of the lens are based on the Sports line standards, assuming the shooting environment and operation method of a telephoto lens.
The lens is dust-proof to prevent water and dust from entering the lens, and the front lens is coated with a water and stain repellent coating to provide peace of mind even when shooting in harsh environments.
Zoom operation is compatible with dual-action zoom. In addition to the zoom ring operation, the angle of view can be quickly and intuitively changed by the direct-action zoom operation. In addition, a zoom torque switch is newly equipped to switch the torque and lock the zoom at the wide end.
The lens body incorporates an Arca Swiss-compatible magnesium alloy tripod mount. The leg section can be removed and replaced with an interchangeable tripod mount (sold separately) or attached to a monopod, depending on the application.
The lens body is made of TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) polycarbonate, which has a thermal shrinkage rate similar to that of aluminum or aluminum, and is used in appropriate places.
