- Adoption of "HD Coating" to enhance descriptive performance
The latest HD Coating, a high-performance multi-coating, has been adopted to reduce the average reflectance in the visible light range to approximately 50% or less compared to conventional coatings. Compared to conventional multi-coatings, the HD Coating has less reflection and higher transmittance, effectively suppressing ghosting and flare under severe shooting conditions such as backlighting. In addition, the lens uses special low-dispersion (ED) glass, which corrects chromatic aberration well, to achieve high-contrast and clear images.

- Zoom lens with fisheye lens function
When attached to a Ricoh digital SLR camera, the lens provides a fisheye lens image with a diagonal angle of view of 180° at an APS-C size when the focal length is 10mm. In addition, the lens allows users to enjoy image expression that takes advantage of the characteristics of ultra-wide-angle lenses, such as the angle of view that changes dramatically with slight differences in focal length, strong perspective, subject deformation, and pan-focus shooting in which the entire image is in focus.

- New design to match the latest models
While maintaining the size of the base "smc PENTAX-DA FISH-EYE10-17mmF3.5-4.5ED(IF)," the design has been completely redesigned. The new design matches the latest DA and D FA lenses and is well-matched with K series digital SLR cameras, making it lightweight and compact despite being an ultra-wide angle lens. In addition, the new removable hood allows users to enjoy fisheye photography* with a near circular composition when attached to the PENTAX K-1 or PENTAX K-1 Mark II, expanding the range of photographic expression.

- SP (Super Protect) Coating to resist stains
The SP (Super Protect) coating is applied to the front of the lens. The coating is deposited with a special fluorine-based substance to provide water and oil repellency, making it resistant to stains and easily removes fingerprints and other oil stains, allowing the lens to be used safely in outdoor shooting environments.

- Others
The camera is equipped with the "Quick-Shift Focus System," which allows manual focusing without switching to the manual focus mode after focusing while the shutter release button is half-pressed in the auto-focus mode. The lens is equipped with a "Quick-Shift Focus System.
The minimum focusing distance is 14cm, and from the tip of the lens, it is possible to get as close as 2.5cm to the subject for ultra close-up photography.
