Product Features
Pursuing the best balance of performance and size suitable for a regular single focal length lens, the Contemporary line of lenses is now available exclusively for full-size mirrorless cameras.
- The Contemporary concept of "pursuit of optimum balance" is embodied. Achieving the best balance suitable for regular-use lenses.
A standard lens designed to be used with relatively compact full-frame mirrorless cameras, this lens strikes a balance between an easy-to-carry size and high optical performance to make it easy to use as a single focal length lens for everyday use. The Contemporary line embodies the development concept of "pursuit of optimum balance," and is the first in a series of lenses designed exclusively for full-frame mirrorless cameras.
Product name: Lenses with an image circle designed for 35mm-format cameras are designated "DG," while lenses designed for mirrorless cameras with a short flange back are designated "DN" in the product name.
- Beautiful bokeh and rendering that can be enjoyed in all scenes
This product pays particular attention to the expression of bokeh. Spherical aberration is controlled so that not only the bokeh in front of and behind the subject, but also the area close to the focal point, the so-called "fine bokeh" or "small bokeh" area, is softly blurred. By softly blurring the periphery of the blurred image, the lens suppresses two-line blur and enhances the three-dimensional effect of the subject by smoothly rendering the foreground and background. In addition, the minimum focusing distance of 24cm allows photographers to enjoy making the most of the angle of view for snapshots and table photos. The design also takes into account aperture erosion, resulting in a beautiful round bokeh shape and suppressing the whirlpool phenomenon throughout the entire bokeh effect. This is a reassuring lens that can be used regularly, allowing you to enjoy a soft bokeh effect that can be described as classical when wide open, while at the same time enjoying the sharpness of modern sharpness when stopped down.
- High-speed, high-precision AF with stepping motor
The stepping motor enables smooth and quiet AF shooting. It is also compatible with face/pupil priority AF and movie AF.
- High build quality and excellent operability
Because this is a lens for everyday use, the build quality and feel of the lens have been carefully pursued. The main materials of the lens body, including the bayonet-type hood, are made of metal for improved durability. The aperture ring is designed to feel like a click, allowing for comfortable operation in a variety of shooting styles.
- The lens mount is rubber-sealed to protect against dust and drips.
- Equipped with a full time manual mechanism
- Designed to minimize flare and ghosting
- All images are inspected by Sigma's original MTF measuring instrument "A1
- Adopts a 7-blade circular aperture
