The first in the Limited series to feature drip-proof construction and an AF drive system for the in-lens motor. This is the first 2x zoom lens in the Limited series that covers the focal range from semi-wide-angle to standard lenses.

- First 2x zoom lens in the Limited series
With a focal length of 20-40mm, the 2x zoom lens provides an angle of view equivalent to a focal length of 30.5-61.5mm in 35mm format when attached to a PENTAX K series digital SLR camera. This lens covers the focal range most frequently used in general photography, such as landscapes, daily snaps, and portraits, making it suitable as a regular-use lens.

- Limited Lenses” with a focus on image rendition and texture
In keeping with the design concept of the “Limited Lens” series, the optical design prioritizes three-dimensional rendering by suppressing astigmatism throughout the entire zoom range. The lens also has an imaging characteristic that is soft at maximum aperture and becomes sharper as the lens is stopped down, allowing the photographer to match the subject to the optical characteristics of the subject. The lens barrel, hood, and cap are made of high-grade machined aluminum, and the knurling on the zoom ring in the center of the lens has been designed with a special pattern to enhance the quality of the lens and make it easier to operate the zoom during shooting.

- Latest Optical Technology
Compared to conventional multi-coatings, the latest high-performance HD Coating is employed to reduce the average reflectance in the visible light range to approximately 50% or less. The HD coating suppresses ghosting and flare under severe shooting conditions, such as backlighting, and produces clear, sharp, and high-contrast images. The use of ED (extra-low dispersion) glass and anomalous low-dispersion glass in the optical system also ensures excellent correction of chromatic aberration throughout the entire zoom range, and delivers sharp, clear, high-resolution images from the center to the periphery.

- First waterproof construction in the Limited series
For the first time in the Limited Lens series, the lens is sealed in seven locations to prevent water droplets from entering the lens. Combined with a digital SLR body that is splash-proof, the lens offers improved durability and reliability in rain, fog, or splashing water.

- In-lens motor-driven AF provides quiet and smooth autofocus drive.

- The Quick-Shift Focus System allows manual focusing without switching to the manual focus mode after focusing in AF mode.

- The front surface of the lens is coated with a stain-resistant SP (Super Protect) coating.
