Product Features

A compact, lightweight, high magnification zoom lens that lets you enjoy a wide variety of photographic expressions, from dynamic landscapes and snapshots to movies, with the high image quality that only "M.ZUIKO PRO" lenses can deliver.

- Compact, lightweight high-power zoom lens boasts 3.1x magnification from an ultra-wide angle of 16mm-equivalent to 50mm-equivalent*1
The 3.1x zoom magnification, the largest*2 among zoom lenses starting at 16mm-equivalent ultra-wide angle, enables a wide range of shooting scenes with a single lens, from dynamic angles of view unique to the ultra-wide angle range to angles of view in the standard range. To achieve a compact size, the "M.ZUIKO PRO" series is the first to adopt a retractable body mechanism. Despite being a high-power all-in-one zoom lens from ultra-wide angle, it weighs only 411g and is highly portable, supporting light shooting.

- High optical performance that delivers crisp, high-resolution images throughout the entire zoom range
The 10-group, 16-element lens construction uses special lenses such as Super ED lenses, ED lenses, and EDA lenses to achieve the highest optical performance. This lens construction thoroughly suppresses chromatic aberration and other aberrations to deliver the high-resolution, crisp images that only the "M.ZUIKO PRO" series lenses can deliver throughout the entire zoom range. In addition, the use of a large DSA lens significantly reduces sagittal coma aberration. Even with the aperture fully open, the lens delivers excellent image reproduction from the center to the periphery of the image, making it an excellent choice for night and starry sky photography. Furthermore, the ZERO coating and optimized lens shape significantly suppress ghosting and flare when shooting in backlit conditions, resulting in sharp, high-definition images. Since the maximum aperture remains the same throughout the entire focal length range, exposure control is easy even when zooming or shooting movies.

- Maximum magnification of 0.42x*1 for close-up photography
With a maximum magnification of 0.42x, the K-5 lets you enjoy powerful macro photography at close to half-macro magnification. The minimum focus distance is a constant 0.23 m across the entire zoom range, so you can easily adjust the angle of view by moving closer to the subject and then operating the zoom ring. The camera also supports depth composite mode*3, which allows the photographer to compose a deep depth-of-field photo in which the subject is in focus from the foreground to the background, providing a wide variety of macro expressions.

- Dustproof, drip-proof, low-temperature resistance (-10°C), and excellent operability
The M.ZUIKO PRO series, which boasts high reliability, offers excellent splash and dust resistance equivalent to IPX1 and low temperature resistance to -10°C. In combination with the OLYMPUS OM-D E-M1 and E-M5 series, the camera can be used in rain, snow, and other harsh environments with peace of mind. The frontmost lens is coated with a fluorine coating, making it easy to remove dirt with a blower or cloth.

- Filter mountable despite ultra-wide angle
Although the lens is equivalent to a 16mm ultra-wide angle, filters can be attached to the tip of the lens. By attaching a PL filter with a filter diameter of 72mm or an ND filter, you can enjoy a wide variety of photographic expressions.

- The manual focus clutch mechanism allows you to instantly switch from auto focus to manual focus.

- The L-Fn (Lens Function) button is located on the side of the camera, allowing you to change settings with a single action of your thumb while holding the camera in place.
