Product Features

This high-performance telephoto zoom lens has a compact design with excellent mobility, yet it covers an image circle compatible with full-size lenses.

The lens employs the high-performance HD Coating multi-coating and optimizes the entire lens coating to suppress ghosting and flare when shooting in backlit conditions, resulting in a clear, crisp image. The lens also features a minimum focusing distance of 0.95m and a maximum magnification of 0.32x, which greatly expands the shooting range.

- Compact and lightweight telephoto zoom lens for high mobility
Weighing only 819g, the compact and lightweight design is easy to carry and covers the image circle of a 35mm full-size image sensor. The lens provides an angle of view equivalent to 70-210mm, making it easy to shoot handheld, and when mounted on an APS-C camera, it provides an angle of view equivalent to 107-322mm (35mm film camera equivalent). The lens is composed of 20 elements in 14 groups with 3 elements of special low-dispersion (ED) glass and 2 elements of anomalous low-dispersion glass to thoroughly correct chromatic aberration, distortion, and coma aberration to achieve high contrast and high-resolution images right to the periphery. In addition to a minimum focusing distance of 0.95 m, the lens does not extend during autofocusing, making it easy to use and enjoy shooting in a variety of fields, from natural landscapes and street scenes with front and rear blur to close-up shots of plants and animals, as well as sports and animal photography with its mobility.

- HD Coating" for enhanced descriptive performance
The latest high-performance multi-coating "HD Coating" is employed to reduce the average reflectance in the visible light range to approximately 50% or less compared to conventional coatings. Compared to conventional multi-coatings, the HD Coating has less reflection and higher transmittance, effectively suppressing ghosting and flare under severe shooting conditions such as backlighting.

- Drip-proof construction
The lens is designed to be drip-proof to prevent water droplets from entering the lens. Combined with our digital SLR camera bodies that feature a drip-proof construction, the lens offers improved reliability in the rain, in fog, and in places subject to splashing water.

- Adoption of dirt-resistant SP (Super Protect) coating
SP (Super Protect) coating is applied to the front surface of the lens. The coating is deposited with a special fluorine-based substance to provide water and oil repellency, making the lens stain-resistant and easy to remove fingerprints and other oil stains, allowing the lens to be used safely in outdoor shooting environments.

- In-Lens Ultrasonic Motor (SDM)
The latest ultrasonic motor (SDM) mounted in the lens realizes fast and quiet autofocusing for comfortable operation.

- Others
The "Quick-shift Focus System" allows manual focusing without switching between auto-focus mode and auto-focus mode after the shutter release button is pressed halfway. Quick-shift Focus System
