The dynamic perspective of the ultra wide-angle 18mm lens enables photographers to capture a wide range of backgrounds from any angle while conveying a sense of atmosphere and presence of the person and place. In addition, the large F1.8 aperture provides soft and beautiful bokeh and low-light conditions, and suppresses sagittal coma flare to achieve a high definition image across the entire image range, making it easy to enjoy a higher grade of expression in a variety of shooting scenes, including starry sky shooting. In movie shooting, the super wide-angle lens can also express a sense of speed with flowing backgrounds. Furthermore, the color and descriptive performance of the entire F1.8 series (*1) is consistent throughout the entire series, so that even if the lens is changed, there is little difference between photos and video shots, resulting in high-quality work with consistent descriptive performance. The lens construction consists of 13 elements in 12 groups, with three aspherical lenses and special lenses that suppress spherical and coma aberrations to achieve high resolution performance.

The use of linear motors and an inner-focusing system provides both high-speed, high-precision AF performance that excels in tracking moving objects and quiet AF operation performance. During movie recording, the quiet focus drive allows shooting without worrying about driving noise, which also shortens post-production work. In addition, the camera suppresses the bleeding phenomenon, in which the angle of view changes as the focus position shifts during focusing, enabling natural video recording with minimal change in the angle of view during focus feed. The aperture micro-step control enables smooth exposure changes by precisely controlling the aperture value even in scenes with large luminance changes. By adjusting the amount of focus drive, intuitive and detailed focusing like that of a cinema lens can be achieved, allowing video creators to shoot in accordance with their expressive intentions.

The F1.8 series (*1) is a series of single focal length lenses developed based on the concept of unifying size and center-of-gravity balance, aiming for easy handling at the shooting site and workflow efficiency, while providing excellent optical and video performance with a balance of resolution, color, and bokeh expression in a compact and lightweight design. In addition to the common holding property of the series due to the unified size, the layout of switches and the unified position and torque of the focus ring ensure not only high operability, but also the convenience of a unified filter diameter. The series also supports a wide range of shooting scenes with dustproof, drip-proof (*2), and low-temperature resistant specifications that allow shooting regardless of weather conditions. In video shooting, the same size and center-of-gravity balance of the series' common specifications reduce the burden of balance adjustment when changing lenses for shooting with gimbals or drones, and enable smooth operation even when shooting time is limited.
