- Optical design to bring out the best image quality as a flagship telephoto zoom lens
A 16-group 23-element lens construction was adopted to achieve best-in-class image quality in a telephoto zoom lens with a brightness of F2.8 across the entire zoom range. Six ED lens elements, including one “Super ED (Abnormal Dispersion) Lens” with optical performance comparable to that of fluorite lenses with superior optical performance, minimize chromatic aberration to the utmost limit and achieve high resolution.

- Quiet, high-speed, high-precision AF with the world's first “Triple Linear Motor
The focusing system employs an inner focus system that achieves high-speed AF. The “Triple Linear Motor” system, which consists of a lightweight focusing lens and three linear motors placed at 120° intervals in the lens drive unit, enables quiet, high-speed, and high-precision AF. By combining this lens with an “X series” body* that supports phase detection AF, photographers can enjoy even faster AF for more comfortable shooting. The quiet shutter sound allows you to take pictures without disturbing the atmosphere of the space where you are taking pictures.

- Powerful image stabilization performance at the highest level in its class
Equipped with a high-performance gyro sensor. Gyro-sensor output signals contain noise (drift components), which must be suppressed in order to improve the accuracy of image stabilization detection. This lens has developed an algorithm that eliminates the drift component and extracts only the blur component, achieving the highest level of image stabilization performance in its class. Combined with the brightness of a maximum aperture of 2.8 across the entire zoom range, this lens enables high image quality shooting even when shooting hand-held with telephoto zoom lenses, which are prone to camera shake.

- Dustproof, drip-proof, and -10°C low-temperature resistant construction
The lens barrel is dustproof, drip-proof, and resistant to temperatures as low as -10°C (-40°F), with sealing on all parts. Combined with the FUJIFILM X-T1, a premium mirrorless camera with dustproof and drip-proof construction, it supports shooting in any situation.

- High-quality appearance and comfortable operability
Metal focus ring and aperture ring. The exterior is made of metal parts for a high quality appearance. The emphasis is placed on the texture that can be felt on the fingertips when turning the rings and on the proper amount of torque to ensure comfortable shooting even during manual focusing, which requires delicate operations. The lens mount is made of brass for added strength. When the lens is mounted on an “X series” body, it weighs only half as much as a full-size sensor SLR camera with the same focal length and f-stop as the lens (according to Fujifilm research), significantly reducing the burden on the photographer and providing overwhelming ease of use. Even after the shutter is pressed halfway down to focus in autofocus, manual focusing can be smoothly performed without having to operate any buttons, etc. (*). (*) This allows for comfortable operation when fine-tuning the focus after autofocusing.
