Product Features
A compact and lightweight standard zoom lens that covers a focal length equivalent to 29-88mm in 35mm format.
- While maintaining the same optical performance as the conventional "EF-S18-55mm F3.5-5.6 IS STM," the overall length is 61.8mm, approximately 18% shorter than the conventional model. The new lens is compact enough to be conveniently carried around on a daily basis.
- The newly developed IS unit achieves an image stabilization effect of 4 stops* in terms of shutter speed. The IS unit expands the range of handheld shooting, including powerful correction of camera shake in situations where a tripod cannot be used or in dimly lit scenes.
(*Focal length 55mm (equivalent to 88mm on a 35mm film camera), when using the EOS 7D Mark II, based on CIPA standards.)
- The use of a lead screw type stepping motor (STM) enables comfortable autofocusing during still and movie shooting.
- The design of the STM blends easily with the camera body and has minimal unevenness.
- The 7-blade circular aperture produces beautiful bokeh out-of-focus effects.
