The maximum aperture value remains constant at 2.8 throughout the entire zoom range. Unlike zoom lenses, where the maximum aperture varies with the focal length, the lens can be zoomed freely without fluctuating exposure, making it easy to take pictures in line with your expressive intentions and making the lens easy to use. When shooting portraits with the 70mm medium telephoto lens, the 2.8 maximum aperture can be used to softly and naturally blur the background and accentuate the sharply captured subject.

In addition to the conventional Nano Crystal Coating, the lens features the newly developed Arneo Coating anti-reflective coating. Arneo Coating is highly effective against light incident perpendicular to the lens surface, and when used in combination with Nano Crystal Coating, it achieves stable ultra-low reflectance across the entire visible light spectrum. This coating is highly effective in reducing ghosting and flare caused by incident light, and provides clear, crisp images even when a light source is present in the image.

- Control ring independent of the focus ring for easier use
The control ring and focus ring are mounted separately. The control ring can be assigned either [aperture value] or [exposure compensation] from the camera, and the assigned function can be controlled even when using MF. The focus ring dedicated to focusing allows for quiet and smooth focusing during MF mode, and the "M/A" function allows the camera to immediately switch to MF mode by operating the ring during AF mode.

- Lens information panel for easy confirmation of shooting information
A lens information panel is provided to check information such as aperture value, shooting distance and depth of field. This panel makes it easy to check various information without looking through the viewfinder.

- More Convenient Lens Fn Button
The number of menu items that can be assigned to the lens Fn button has been increased. The Fn1/Fn2 buttons on the camera body have the same functions as the Fn1/Fn2 buttons on the camera body, so you can assign functions that take into account the coordination of the three function buttons, thereby improving operability.

- Highly accurate and quiet AF drive for both movies and still images
