Product Features
In Yamagata Prefecture, where the MR-G is crafted, stands a five-story pagoda—the oldest in the Tohoku region and designated as a National Treasure. This model draws its inspiration from the solemn grandeur of that pagoda, nestled in a tranquil forest.
The five-story pagoda stands serenely amidst the quiet mountains at dawn, with morning mist drifting through the air. We have captured this beautiful scene on the dial using “hanada-iro,” a traditional Japanese blue hue. The clear blue, which changes its appearance depending on the light and angle, evokes a sense of the fantastical passage of time. The timeless strength and dignified presence symbolized by the architectural elements, combined with the hanada-iro design, bring tranquility and elegance to your wrist.
This model is part of G-SHOCK’s Iconic Style series, featuring the distinctive octagonal bezel of the 2100 design. It incorporates carefully selected metal materials and meticulous finishing.
The intricately shaped case and bezel consist of 27 individual components. By allowing each part to be polished down to the finest detail, a superior texture has been achieved. A beautiful, highly smooth mirror finish has been applied, and TIC coating has been used to further enhance wear resistance. Additionally, strength has been improved through a Multi-Guard Structure that incorporates shock-absorbing pads between the numerous components.
The bezel is crafted from “COBARION”*1, a material said to be approximately four times harder than pure titanium and to possess a luster comparable to platinum. The bracelet utilizes “DAT55G”*2, a titanium alloy that combines high hardness with excellent workability, while the case and bezel are made from the high-hardness titanium alloy 64Ti.
The dial features a geometric pattern created by undulating ridges and fine holes, expressing the beautiful aesthetic of the traditional Japanese “Kigumi” latticework. Light necessary for solar power generation passes through the gaps in the lattice-patterned dial. The index at the 12 o'clock position employs a structure where two parts are precisely combined. This intricate craftsmanship, which demands high precision, was achieved through Yamagata Casio's micro-machining technology.
In terms of functionality, the watch supports smartphone connectivity via radio wave reception and Mobile Link features, offering high practicality. The module is equipped with an MR-G-exclusive module featuring a gold-plated circuit board retainer.
