[Size] Approx. 200 mm in height
Sculpted by: Ryu Oyama
Rather than simply viewing a kaiju as a “suit,” Ryu Oyama takes a step back and objectively analyzes and deconstructs the subject as a sculptural form, before reconstructing it in extraordinary detail as a living creature. While easy to describe in words, this is a feat that only a truly gifted, “genius-type” creature sculptor like Ryu Oyama can accomplish.
Oyama’s Decade Garamon (from Ultra Q) is an exceptionally creative work that depicts “the remains of Garamon after the passage of countless ages”—a concept unlike anything previously seen in the world of kaiju sculpting.
Using the word “art” too casually in the world of sculpture can be dangerous, but this is truly a masterpiece that makes you wonder, “If this isn’t art, then what is?”
The original clay prototype, which stood approximately 140 mm tall, was digitized into 3D data using CT scanning and scaled up to an impressive height of 200 mm. Using the latest CT scanning technology, capable of capturing even layers of air, the data faithfully preserves the intricate details of the original prototype. Production is carried out at a highly skilled factory with experience fulfilling manufacturing commissions from Hollywood.
The figure is mass-produced using hollow-molded polyresin. A special material closer to plastic than conventional polyresin has been selected, making delicate areas such as the tips of the spikes much more resistant to breakage and easier to handle.
*Uses special paint that reacts under black light.
