Product Features
Ultra wide-angle PC lens with a focal length (19mm) ideal for architectural and interior photography. High operability for flexible azimuth shooting.
Ultra wide-angle PC lens ideal for architectural and interior photography
The PC lens (“PC” stands for Perspective Control) enables “azimuth shooting” using the shift and tilt functions. In “aori” photography, the optical axis of the lens can be manipulated to compensate for distortions of the main subject caused by camera angles and to focus on the entire depth of the main subject, from front to back.
The PC NIKKOR lens series' shortest focal length of 19mm corresponds to the angle of view frequently used with large- and medium-format cameras when photographing architectural structures and interiors. Using a Nikon FX-format digital SLR camera, it is possible to shoot at an easy-to-use angle of view that is familiar to many architectural photographers.
New mechanism to further expand the range of expression through aori photography
In addition to the revolving mechanism that rotates the entire lens, a new “PC revolving mechanism” has been adopted to increase the degree of freedom of azimuth shooting. The PC revolving mechanism allows the shift and tilt to be freely set from parallel to orthogonal, enabling precise aori operations to suit a variety of photographic intentions. The new shift mechanism, which allows smooth fine adjustment of the shift position and requires no lock operation, improves operability during aori shooting. The new shift mechanism also allows for smooth fine-tuning of the shift position, eliminating the need for a lock operation, and the design takes into account the feel of the fingers for comfortable aori operation.
High optical performance that brings out the full potential of a high-resolution camera
The lens delivers high resolution to the periphery of the image and excellent flatness of the image plane, enabling the ultra-wide-angle 19mm lens to capture every detail of the image in fine detail. In addition, the use of three ED lenses reduces chromatic aberration, while two aspherical lenses effectively correct various aberrations such as distortion and spherical aberration. Furthermore, even in situations where light enters the lens from an angle, the nano-crystal coating effectively reduces ghosting and flare to produce clear images. The high optical performance of the latest optical design maximizes the capabilities of high-resolution digital SLR cameras.
Fluorine coating with excellent antifouling performance and durability
Nikon's unique fluorine coating, which is easy to maintain, is used on the frontmost surface of the lens. Nikon's fluorine coating has excellent antifouling performance, making it resistant to dirt and grime, and when it does adhere, it can be easily wiped off. The coating is extremely durable and does not peel off easily, so its effect lasts for a long time. It also has an anti-reflective effect, contributing to clear images.
