The "★ (Star)" series lenses were developed with the aim of achieving ideal image quality by correcting various aberrations to the utmost limit and pursuing sharp, clear images from the center to the periphery. It is a 2.9x telephoto zoom lens with a focal length equivalent to approximately 107-307mm in 35mm format when attached to a K series digital SLR camera. With a maximum aperture of 2.8 across the entire zoom range, the lens is bright, making it ideal for portrait photography with its large aperture that takes advantage of the blurred background effect, and for sports photography that uses high-speed shutter speeds to capture motion. Furthermore, the image circle is designed to have enough space to cover 35mm-format film SLR cameras, so when the lens is attached to current digital SLR cameras, users can enjoy sharp, high-resolution images from the corners of the screen, and it can also accommodate future increases in image sensor size.
