The 10-group, 11-element lens construction with an effective arrangement of Super ED lenses, ED lenses, Super HR lenses, and aspherical lenses delivers sharp images from the center to the corners of the image. These lenses have high resolving power that can fully demonstrate their performance even in high-resolution shots with high pixel counts. The effective use of the ZERO Coating and optimal suppression of internal reflections in the mirror frame also reduces ghosting and flare.

Utilizing the know-how accumulated through the development of the "M.ZUIKO PRO F1.2" series, which is the ultimate in bokeh, we have achieved a "beautifully blurred bokeh" effect that blurs from the focus plane to the out-of-focus area. By optimally controlling the spherical aberration curve using an aberration meter that measures bokeh at the aberration level, we have achieved both excellent resolving power and beautiful bokeh at a high level.
