Product Features
The world's smallest and lightest*1 high-performance "M.ZUIKO PRO" lens with a fixed maximum aperture of 4.0 F. It offers image quality approaching that of the "M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm F2.8 PRO.
The lens is dustproof and drip-proof to IP53 protection rating, allowing it to be used nimbly in all kinds of environments.
- The world's smallest and lightest*1 telephoto zoom lens for a new age, combining high image quality
High resolution throughout the entire zoom range from 80mm to 300mmThe lens adopts an optical design with 15 elements in 9 groups (including 2 ED lenses, 1 Super ED lens, and 1 HR lens), inheriting the basic construction of the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm F2.8 PRO, which has an established reputation for its high resolution. By effectively arranging special lenses, chromatic aberration, which tends to occur with telephoto lenses, is thoroughly suppressed to achieve high-resolution images from the maximum aperture across the entire zoom range and the entire image plane, despite its small size and light weight. The lens also features the ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) coating that thoroughly eliminates ghosting and flare, ensuring clear images even in harsh conditions such as backlit conditions. This is a high-performance lens that can fully exploit the high image quality of the camera body's Hi-Res Shot function.
World's smallest and lightest*1 lens with overwhelming portability, and easy-to-use inner-zoom mechanism. The lens is the world's smallest and lightest telephoto zoom lens. In addition to a mechanism that allows the lens to be retracted simply by rotating the zoom ring, the inner zoom system, which does not change the length of the lens at all focal lengths, suppresses changes in the center of gravity during zooming. The weight of the lens placed on the front side has been drastically reduced by making it smaller and lighter, allowing for light shooting without the "long lens barrel and heavy front side" that is often associated with telephoto lenses.
- Excellent environmental performance with IP53 dustproof and drip-proof protection
The lens is dustproof, drip-proof, and resistant to temperatures as low as -10°C (-40°F) so that it can be used safely in harsh environments such as rain, snow, and dust. The camera's drip-proof performance has cleared IPX3, far exceeding the conventional IPX1, and has achieved a high performance rating of IP53 for dust and drip-proof protection. The frontmost lens is coated with a fluorine coating that not only repels water, oil, and dirt, but also reduces friction. Dirt on the lens surface can be easily removed with a blower or cloth.
- Macro performance with a minimum focusing distance of 70 cm (at all focal lengths) and a maximum magnification of 0.41x*2
As with the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm F2.8 PRO, the minimum focusing distance is 70cm across the entire zoom range. At the telephoto end, close-up shooting with a maximum magnification of 0.41x*2 is possible. Despite being a telephoto zoom, the lens is equipped with excellent close-up shooting performance, making it suitable for a wide range of shooting. It also supports depth composite mode*3, which takes multiple shots with different focus points and automatically combines them. In combination with a compatible camera, it is possible to take macro photos in which the subject is in focus from the front to the back.
*1: As of February 15, 2022, the world's smallest and lightest telephoto zoom lens with a fixed f-number equivalent to 300mm (35mm film camera equivalent).
*2: 35mm film format equivalent
*3:This function may require a firmware update on the camera.
