This compact and lightweight high image quality standard lens has the same high optical performance as the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 45mm F1.8 lens, which is well known for its beautiful bokeh and high resolution.
Conventional 50mm standard lenses for SLR cameras generally use a Gaussian-type lens configuration, but a new lens design for the digital era has been adopted that supports inner focusing to achieve a smaller, faster, and quieter AF. To suppress aberrations from the center to the periphery, as many as nine high-performance lens elements, including aspherical lenses, are lavishly used to deliver clear and sharp optical performance from the maximum aperture.
In addition, the use of Olympus' proprietary ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) coating suppresses ghosting and flare, and boasts clear imaging performance even under adverse conditions such as backlighting.
As a standard lens in the M.ZUIKO PREMIUM series of high quality single focal length lenses, which offer sharpness and soft bokeh, this lens is ideal for snapshots, portraits, and landscapes.
Like other M.ZUIKO PREMIUM series lenses, the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 25mm F1.8 has a meticulously crafted texture and is designed to be integrated with the PEN and OM-D series.

- Close-up Photography Capability to 25cm
This product enables close-up shooting up to 25 cm (8.5") away, with a maximum magnification of 0.24x (0.12x in 35mm format), which is equivalent to a postcard-sized (A6 size) image. When photographing a cup or a dish up close, the soft, large blur effect created by the F1.8 maximum aperture combined with the large size of the image will allow you to enjoy a different kind of table photo.
In combination with the MCON-P02 Macro Converter Lens (sold separately), the photographer can get as close as 17cm (0.436") for maximum magnification of 0.218x (35mm film camera equivalent) for "simple macro photography.

The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 25mm F1.8 is equipped with the MSC (Movie & Still Compatible) mechanism, an inner focus system that enables fast, smooth, quiet, and highly precise autofocusing. The MSC mechanism can be combined with the "FAST AF" system of the PEN and OM-D series to ensure that you never miss a scene you want to capture.
The quiet AF also makes it ideal for shooting in quiet scenes and taking movies.
