Product Features
- A compact and lightweight standard zoom lens that covers a focal length equivalent to 24-72mm on a 35mm film equivalent. Compared to the "EF-M18-55mm F3.5-5.6 IS STM" standard zoom lens (released in September 2012), the new lens achieves a compact and lightweight design with approximately 62% of the mass and 73% of the overall length.
- By effectively arranging three aspherical lens elements, high image quality is achieved from the center to the periphery of the image, in addition to the compact and lightweight compact design.
- The lens can be stowed away, and a lens storage mechanism is employed to achieve compactness when carrying the lens.
- The lead screw type stepping motor (STM) enables quiet and smooth autofocusing during movie recording.
- The STM provides an image stabilization effect of 3.5 steps* in shutter speed conversion.
*Focal length 45mm (equivalent to 72mm in 35mm film format), when using EOS M. Based on CIPA standards.
- The maximum diameter of the lens is 60.9mm, the same as all other EF-M lenses in the series, for a slim, consistent, and elegant design.
