Product Features
Natural spatial rendering and high optical performance, a new dimension of large-aperture medium telephoto lens.
Combines a maximum aperture of F1.4 at 105mm focal length with AF.

- Combines a maximum aperture of F1.4 at 105mm focal length with AF
Nikon's latest optical design has made it possible for the first time in the world* to combine a maximum aperture of F1.4 with AF in a mid-telephoto 100-105mm class single focal length lens.
(*As a 35mm-format single focal length lens that has been released as of July 27, 2016. According to Nikon research.)
The bright viewfinder image of the large-aperture single focal length lens supports comfortable shooting and is also effective for hand-held shooting in dimly lit scenes because it allows shooting at relatively fast shutter speeds.

- Electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism for high-precision exposure control
The lens body is equipped with an aperture-blade unit with a drive mechanism. This enables high-precision aperture control via electrical signals from the camera body, contributing to stable exposure control even during high-speed continuous shooting.

*This lens has restrictions on cameras that can be used with it. For cameras with restrictions on use, please refer to the "About Combinations with E-type Lenses" section of the manufacturer's website.

- Three-Dimensional Hi-Fidelity" depicts a natural sense of depth with gentle changes in bokeh
The AF-S NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G inherits the "Three-Dimensional Hi-Fidelity" design concept of reproducing a three-dimensional subject as a more natural three-dimensional image in the two-dimensional field of photography. The "three-dimensional high-fidelity lens" not only raises the resolution and contrast of the in-focus area, but also emphasizes continuity from the in-focus area, to the blurred area, to the completely blurred area, in order to improve the sense of three-dimensionality. The blur changes gently as you move away from the in-focus eye, to the wrinkles around the eyes, and then to the hair, enabling the photographer to create a natural sense of depth. This precisely calculated bokeh creates a pleasant airy feeling in the image, allowing the photographer to capture the appearance of people and still life in an appealing manner.

- Shallow depth of field and large bokeh
This large-aperture medium telephoto single-focal length lens takes advantage of the shallow depth of field of the 105mm f/1.4 to produce a large, beautiful bokeh effect. This enables impressive photographic expression in full-body portraits, where the subject stands out from its surroundings with a natural atmosphere.

- Sharply renders landscapes from the maximum aperture setting
The AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED is a large-aperture lens with a maximum aperture of 1.4, yet it delivers sharp images with high resolving power even with a wide aperture when shooting landscapes and other distant scenes. Furthermore, by stopping down the aperture by one or two stops, extremely sharp images can be obtained all the way to the periphery of the image.

- High point-image reproducibility to capture dots as dots
The lens achieves high point-image reproducibility by capturing point light sources in distant night and evening scenes as "dots" with minimal distortion and blurring. In the design of the AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED, the factors that cause sagittal coma flare were carefully suppressed to achieve a high level of point-blank reproducibility from a wide-aperture aperture. The lens has achieved a "dot-on-dot" rendering characteristic from the widest aperture. The lens delivers sharp images from corner to corner, even when shooting night scenes.

- Less chromatic aberration with 3 ED lenses
Three ED lenses are used to reduce chromatic aberration. This effectively suppresses color blurring caused by out-of-focus images, resulting in high image rendering performance. This is particularly effective in correcting axial chromatic aberration. Even in scenes with large differences in brightness and darkness, such as photographs, this lens reduces chromatic aberration (color bleeding), which is easily noticeable at the edges of highlights.

- Nano Crystal Coating suppresses ghosting and flare
The Nano Crystal Coating provides an extremely high anti-reflective effect over the entire visible light range. It effectively reduces ghosting and flare when backlit. The lens delivers stable and clear images in a wide variety of shooting situations, including scenes where light enters the lens from an angle.

- Fluorine coatings on the front and back surfaces of the lens provide superior stain resistance and durability.
Nikon's fluorine coating provides excellent stain resistance and is easy to wipe off. Furthermore, Nikon's proprietary technology makes the coating extremely durable and does not peel easily, so it can withstand a much greater number of wiping cycles than other similar coatings, and its effect lasts for a long time. The AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED uses this fluorine coating on both the front and back surfaces of the lens.
