Taking advantage of the short flange back of the Z-mount system, the lens has been made thinner without sacrificing optical performance. Furthermore, the lens is compact and lightweight, weighing only 135g, thanks to the use of a retractable mechanism that significantly shortens the overall length of the lens when it is stored. In addition, a button-less system is adopted, which allows the lens to be quickly sunk/un-sunk by simply rotating the zoom ring. The lightweight and compact standard zoom lens can be easily carried around at any time for quick, full-fledged photography at the moment you feel like taking a picture.

The wide zoom range of 16mm (wide-angle) to 50mm (medium-telephoto) * enables shooting of a variety of scenes and subjects, including expansive landscapes, snapshots, and portraits. 16mm wide-angle self portrait mode on the Z 50 allows you to take a self portrait with a wide background to convey the atmosphere of the shooting location.

The VR mode includes the SPORT mode, which provides a stable viewfinder image with minimal blurring, making it easy to track subjects that are moving rapidly and to continue capturing moving subjects even during high-speed continuous shooting. Furthermore, in combination with the Z 50, extremely effective motion blur correction is possible in conjunction with the dual-sensing optical VR (mounted on the Z 50), which precisely calculates the amount of blurring.
