The "First Generation G-SHOCK Reissue Model" Symbolizes the Evolution and Legacy of the Brand: A Milestone in Watchmaking History, Combining Original Design with Modern Technology After More Than 40 Years
On April 12, 1983, Casio amazed the world by releasing the "G-SHOCK," a tough watch with enhanced shock and vibration resistance for harsh environments.
Significantly exceeding ISO standards for shock-resistant watches, its high shock resistance, capable of withstanding impacts from intense sports and continuous vibrations from chainsaws and rock drills, transformed the lifestyles of people around the world at the time, establishing a new genre of wristwatches known as "tough watches."
Furthermore, not only its high functionality but also its distinctive form was highly regarded, and in 2023, it became the first wristwatch to be registered as a three-dimensional trademark by the Japan Patent Office.
A masterpiece that has left its mark on watchmaking history, the "First Generation G-SHOCK," has been reissued, recreating its original design.
More than 40 years have passed since the brand's inception, and G-SHOCK has continued to evolve, developing many models. This special model embodies the spirit and hopes for the future embodied in the original model, reviving it as closely as possible using the technology available to current G-SHOCK watches.
The case is made of stainless steel, just like the original, and the band's length, shape, and even the position of the dimples are faithfully reproduced from the original model.
After 40 years, it represents G-SHOCK's determination to return to its original spirit and forge a path to the future.
Meanwhile, the bezel and band are made of biomass plastic, contributing to a reduction in environmental impact.
An LED backlight is used to enhance visibility.
The case size has been increased from the original model's 41.6mm to a more modern 42.3mm.
The bezel meticulously reproduces the original model.
The areas on the bezel with the words "PROTECTION" and "G-SHOCK" are flat, faithfully reproducing the original model.
Face design featuring red, blue, and yellow
The red, representing the G-SHOCK brand colors and symbolizing a passion for continuous challenge, the blue representing high water resistance, and the yellow representing shock resistance, all used in the original model, are faithfully reproduced.
A brick pattern, evoking a sense of robustness, is also incorporated.
Beautifully mirror-polished case back
The layout of the markings on the screw-back case and the dynamic "Shock Resistant" lettering are reminiscent of the original model, with the design inherited down to the smallest detail.
*Please note that due to manufacturing reasons, the logo and lettering on the case back may not be perfectly aligned with the dial in the actual product.
Manufactured at Yamagata Casio
In homage to the engineers who completed the original model, this watch is made by craftsmen and engineers at "Yamagata Casio," the mother factory of G-SHOCK, just as it was back then.
