1. Longest ultra-telephoto single focal length lens in “GF Lens” history
With a focal length of 500mm (equivalent to 396mm in 35mm format), the longest ultra-telephoto focal length in the history of “GF Lens”, it is ideal for sports photography, wildlife and bird photography.
Combined with the FUJINON Teleconverter GF1.4X TC WR, which expands the focal length of the lens, the maximum focal length equivalent to 700mm (35mm film camera equivalent: 554mm) is achieved.
Luxurious lens construction with 21 elements in 14 groups including 2 Super ED lens elements and 5 ED lens elements. The chromatic aberration characteristic of super-telephoto lenses has been thoroughly suppressed to achieve high-resolution performance. The lens fully depicts the amount of information beyond the naked eye, which is unique to telephoto lenses.

2. Lightweight design and toughness reduce the burden of long hours of shooting regardless of the scene
By reviewing the parts and designing parts that are as light as possible, a weight of approximately 1,375g has been achieved, overturning the conventional wisdom of ultra-telephoto photography. In addition to reducing the weight of each lens, the optimal placement of the ED and Super ED lenses minimizes chromatic aberration, which tends to occur with compact lenses, achieving both compactness and lightweight with high-resolution performance.
Although the front element of the lens tends to be large, the optimal placement of the lenses allows the user to hold the lens without feeling the weight of the front element. This enables comfortable, low-burden ultra-telephoto shooting.
The lens barrel is sealed in 18 places to make it dustproof, drip-proof, and resistant to temperatures as low as -10°C. In addition, the front element of the lens is coated with a fluorine coating to provide water and stain repellency. The lens can be used safely for long hours of shooting in bad weather.

3. Powerful image stabilization performance of 6.0 stops
A powerful 6.0-step image stabilization mechanism has been realized by improving the accuracy of image stabilization sensing and optimizing the mechanism design. This allows users to comfortably enjoy hand-held shooting in the ultra-telephoto range, where camera shake can easily affect the image quality.

4. High-speed, silent, and high-precision AF with comfortable operation
The focus lens has been made smaller and lighter while maintaining high resolution performance. Furthermore, by adopting an inner focus system in which the focus group is driven by linear motors, the camera achieves fast and silent autofocusing with a minimum time of approximately 0.31 seconds*1. Even when shooting in the ultra-telephoto range, where advanced focusing is required, the subject can be captured quickly and accurately, ensuring that the decisive moment is not missed.
The camera is equipped with a focus preset function that allows the focus to be instantly shifted to a pre-set position with the SET button*2. Since there is no need to readjust the focus on the targeted subject, the operator's burden during shooting is reduced.
Equipped with a focus limiter function*3 that limits the range of lens movement when focusing, the lens drive time can be shortened when shooting a subject at a distance of 5 m or more to achieve high-speed AF.
The “focus control button” is located at the tip of the lens barrel. This allows smooth AF operation by instantly recalling the desired function assigned by the “Focus Select Switch”.
