Product Features
The “Leica Summilux M f1.4/50mm ASPH.” is characterized by its standard 50mm focal length, which makes it suitable for an extremely wide range of applications. Like all M lenses, it also boasts the same overwhelming descriptive power that is typical of Leica lenses. Furthermore, the number of aperture blades has been increased from nine to eleven to produce a more beautiful circular bokeh effect.
The minimum focusing distance has been shortened from 0.7m to 0.45m thanks to a double cam unit newly developed by Leica engineers. The focus ring's angle of rotation has also been increased, enabling more precise and reliable focusing at any shooting distance. At the same time, there is no change in the frame or focusing accuracy, so close-up photography at 0.45m can be performed comfortably.
Up to 0.7 m, focusing linked to the rangefinder (focusing while looking through the rangefinder) is possible with all film and digital M-type cameras as before; turning the focus ring until 0.7 m gives a light clicking sensation, and from there to 0.45 m, focusing is possible only with digital M-type cameras. Focusing is possible only with the camera and can be done while viewing the live-view image on the rear LCD monitor, the external electronic viewfinder “Bizoflex 2” or the “Leica FOTOS” application.
Like the Leica Summilux M f1.4/35mm ASPH., the Leica Summilux M f1.4/50mm ASPH. has also been updated optically and mechanically. The lens hood is round-shaped and integrated into the lens, and can be pulled out and stored with a light turn.
