The long-awaited compact and lightweight all-in-one zoom lens has been added to the “M.ZUIKO PRO” series of high-performance lenses to meet the demands of professionals. By using a special lens, the M.ZUIKO PRO series has achieved high all-in-one magnification and high resolution in a compact size.
The number of lens elements has been reduced and the overall lens length shortened by effectively correcting aberrations through the combination of DSA (large eccentricity double-sided aspheric) lenses and HR (high refractive index) or Super HR (ultra-high refractive index) lenses. The DSA lenses use glass materials with a higher refractive index than conventional lenses, which enables a smaller maximum lens diameter. This enables a single lens to cover the focal length equivalent to two standard F4 zoom lenses.
Furthermore, by using a large number of ED lenses, chromatic aberration, which is an issue on the telephoto side, has been thoroughly reduced to ensure high resolution throughout the entire zoom range, even to the periphery of the image.
In addition, the Z Coating Nano coating technology, which delivers a clear, crisp image, significantly reduces ghosting and flare in backlit and other situations, and is effective when shooting with strong light sources in the frame.

5-axis Synchro Image Stabilization with the world's strongest 6.5-step*1 correction performance
The camera is equipped with an in-lens image stabilization mechanism for reliable use throughout the entire high-power zoom range. In addition, the 5-synchro image stabilization works in concert with the 5-axis image stabilization mechanism in the camera body to provide the world's most powerful 6.5-step*1 image stabilization when used with a compatible camera body.
The in-lens image stabilization mechanism alone provides 5 stops*2 of image stabilization performance, making the lens attractive even to users of bodies without image stabilization mechanisms.

Macro function with a maximum magnification of 0.6x (35mm film camera equivalent) thanks to close-up shooting performance at a distance of 1.5cm from the lens tip
At the 12mm focal length at the wide end, the minimum focusing distance is 15cm, and the lens can get as close as 1.5cm from the lens tip, enabling macro photography with a maximum magnification of 0.3x (0.6x on a 35mm film camera equivalent) and new expressions.
At the telephoto end of 100mm (equivalent to 200mm in 35mm film format), the minimum focusing distance is 45cm, the working distance is 27cm, and the maximum magnification is 0.21x (0.42x in 35mm film format).

Other Features
- Dustproof and drip-proof mechanism with 12 sealed locations; combined with the dustproof, drip-proof and low-temperature resistant body of the OM-D series, the camera can be used in harsh shooting environments.
- The high quality design of the metal exterior common to the M.ZUIKO PRO series is retained. The “manual focus clutch mechanism” allows the user to switch to manual focus by pulling the focus ring toward the user. The lens barrel is also equipped with an IS switch (ON/OFF) and L-Fn button, which can be used to assign functions such as “AF stop” according to the camera's custom settings.
