High-power zoom
When attached to a PENTAX APS-C size SLR camera, this 7.5x high-power zoom lens provides an angle of view equivalent to a focal length of 27.5mm wide angle to 207mm telephoto in 35mm format. It can cover a wide range of general photography from landscapes, snaps, and portraits to sporting events. The latest optical design has achieved both high magnification and a compact, lightweight design, making it easy to use and maneuverable as a regular lens.
Simplified drip-proof construction
The lens features a simplified drip-proof construction that prevents water drops from entering the lens. Combined with our digital SLR cameras that feature a drip-proof construction, the lens offers improved durability and reliability in rain, fog, and splashing water.
Smooth autofocusing by in-lens motor
A DC motor for autofocusing (AF) is mounted in the lens to achieve smooth AF operationNote 1. In addition, a non-rotating mechanism is employed to prevent the focusing ring from rotating during AF, allowing the lens to be held in the same position as manual focus.
Note 1: Compatible models are K-5, K-r, K-7, K-x, K-m, K20D, K200D, K100DSuper, K10D (firmware Ver. 1.30 or later). When attached to other cameras, focusing will be manual.
High descriptive performance
The optical system uses one ED (extra-low dispersion) glass lens and one each of hybrid and glass-molded aspherical (AL) lenses. This contributes to the compactness of the lens body as well as improving descriptive performance by correcting aberrations.
Circular aperture for beautiful bokeh
A circular diaphragm is used to suppress the glow of light when shooting a point light source, resulting in a more natural and beautiful bokeh effect.
Other features
1. Minimum focusing distance of 0.4m across the entire zoom range.
2. Quick-ShiftFocusSystem, which allows manual focusing without switching operation after focusing in AF mode.
3. The front surface of the lens is coated with a stain-resistant SP (SuperProtect) coating.
