The G Master is a portrait lens that has evolved even further with the overwhelming resolution performance and beautiful blurring effect that is unique to α lenses, by incorporating Sony's cutting-edge technologies and using higher design standards than ever before. The newly developed ultra-advanced aspherical XA (extreme aspherical) lens delivers both overwhelming resolution and beautiful blurring, while the three ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements significantly reduce on-axis chromatic aberration to produce a crisp image and beautiful blurred image with minimal coloration. The lens is coated with Sony's proprietary nano AR coating. This coating minimizes ghosting and flare in portrait photography, even under harsh conditions such as backlighting. For focus drive, a ring drive SSM is used to move the large and heavy focus lens for smooth focusing. In addition, two position-detecting sensors provide high-precision control to meet the severe focusing requirements of the high-resolution era. The camera is also designed for professional photographers with an aperture ring, AF/MF switch, focus hold button, and dustproof and drip-proof features.
