Product Features
- Full-fledged performance that you can easily carry around with you New possibilities for creating works of art
The first in the "I Series" of interchangeable lenses that challenge new values as interchangeable lenses for the mirrorless era. The Contemporary line offers a high-spec regular-use lens that combines a compact body ideal for mirrorless systems with high resolving power.
The 35mm F2 DG DN Contemporary combines the brightness of a maximum aperture of 2.0, optical performance, and a compact lens body that is compatible with mirrorless systems at a high level. With its high optical performance that can withstand starry landscapes, and the high quality lens body guaranteed by the "I-series", you can enjoy creating authentic works of art even with casual snapshots, despite its easy-to-carry size.
The I-series lenses are the new standard lenses of the mirrorless era for photography enthusiasts who seek value beyond the photographic experience.
- I-series lenses offer new value as "premium compact primes" for mirrorless systems
The I Series is a series of full-frame compatible lenses that offers new value to mirrorless systems. One of the major advantages of mirrorless systems is that they are compact and lightweight. The combination of high optical performance and compactness that cannot be achieved with an SLR camera also opens up new opportunities for photographers.
On the other hand, Sigma believes that in this day and age, when the means of photography have become so diverse, including mobile devices, owning a camera and lenses requires more than just the act of "taking a picture.
The "I-series" lenses are the result of careful consideration of the quality of the lens as a tool, the feel of the lens when handling it, and the pleasure of owning it, all based on the high development and processing technologies accumulated since the company's founding in 1961 and refined through the SIGMA GLOBAL VISION in 2012. The answer from SIGMA Contemporary is to ask what kind of value can be proposed for the existence of lenses today.
- The Contemporary line, a new standard in optical performance
The 35mm F2 DG DN Contemporary combines the highest level of optical performance at a maximum aperture of 2.0 with a body size that is well balanced with mirrorless systems.
The SLD glass corrects axial chromatic aberration, which is a particular concern with bright lenses, while the optimal placement of highly refractive glass allows for good correction of various aberrations while limiting the number of lens elements. Furthermore, spherical aberration and image curvature are corrected by using three high-precision glass-molded aspherical glass elements, made possible by the processing technology at Sigma's only production facility in Aizu, Japan. In addition, aberration fluctuation during focusing is suppressed.
The latest optical design and the advanced processing technology that gives form to the optical design realize uniform and high resolution not only at the center of the image, but also at the periphery of the image. Furthermore, even sagittal coma flare has been well corrected, so the lens boasts a high level of descriptive power that makes it suitable for starry landscape photography as well.
- Build quality to I-series specifications
The I-series common specification all-metal exterior is used. Parts made of machined aluminum are not only beautiful, but also enhance the quality of the product itself, such as its solid rigidity and high durability.
Metal is also used for the internal structure that slides against the control ring. High-precision parts made possible by the advanced metalworking technology behind the SIGMA CINE LENS, a professional-use lens designed exclusively for imaging, provide each control part with a superb quality that makes you want to operate it again and again. The cover ring placed between the focus ring and aperture ring has a hairline finish, which is also used on the rear barrel of the Art line. The cover ring gives the lens its own expression and also functions as a finger ring when attaching and detaching the lens.
