Product Features

- Large-aperture standard zoom lens for ultra-high pixel digital SLR cameras
High optical performance
Three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements and four aspherical lens elements are used to correct various aberrations. In particular, the lens has achieved high image quality all the way to the periphery of the image by successfully correcting coma aberration, which deteriorates point image reproducibility, and lateral chromatic aberration, which does not improve even when the lens is stopped down. Distortion at the wide end, where distortion tends to be more noticeable, has also been well corrected. High optical performance is achieved throughout the entire zoom range.
Art Line Standard 24-70mm F2.8

Sigma has been commercializing the best 24-70mm F2.8 lenses of their time. The first model was the 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG ASPHERICAL DF released in 2001, and the SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Art, the fourth generation of the Art line, has been designed and manufactured to meet the demanding optical design requirements of combining a large diameter standard zoom lens and image stabilization. The SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Art is a large-aperture standard zoom lens combined with image stabilization, a challenging optical design requirement.
Bokeh Depiction

As a large-aperture standard zoom lens, the lens is also particular about its rendering at wide-open aperture. We sought to achieve natural bokeh while keeping the focus sharp. Especially for large-aperture zoom lenses, which are often used at wide-open apertures, we have taken the shape of the bokeh into consideration and made it as close to circular as possible.
Advanced Aspherical Surface Processing Technology
Aspherical lenses are indispensable in the design of high-performance lenses. Sigma has been working on the processing of aspherical lenses, which are difficult to process, including the high-precision large-aperture aspherical lenses used in the front elements of the SIGMA 12-24mm F4 DG HSM Art and SIGMA 14mm F1.8 DG HSM Art lenses. HSMArt's aspherical lenses achieve high resolution by using aspherical lenses with a shape that is extremely difficult to form due to the large ratio of thickness between the center and the periphery, taking advantage of the machining know-how cultivated over the years. Furthermore, by processing the surface of the aspherical lens to a precision one digit higher than the submicron order, the ring blur that tends to occur with aspherical lenses is greatly reduced, contributing to natural bokeh rendition.

- Equipped with an image stabilization OS mechanism to handle all kinds of scenes
The camera is equipped with a highly effective OS (Optical Stabilizer) mechanism to compensate for camera shake in a variety of situations, providing a high image stabilization effect of 4 stops*. In addition, a newly designed large HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) with approximately 1.3 times more torque than conventional motors is employed. This enables stable operation even at low speeds.
Compliant with CIPA guidelines. Measured at telephoto side with a full-size camera attached.

- Highly rigid lens barrel design
The SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Art is a large-aperture standard zoom lens that is used frequently in everyday shooting, and the lens barrel is made of metal to meet the rigors of professional shooting environments. The lens barrel is made of TSC (Thermally Stable Composite), which not only maintains high optical performance but also improves rigidity and reliability.

- Other Features
Simplified dustproof and drip-proof construction
The mount is protected by a rubber sealing* to prevent dust and other contaminants from entering the mount. The front element is coated with a water- and stain-repellent coating to enable shooting in a variety of conditions, such as in the rain or near water where splashes of spray can occur.

*Not adopted for the Sigma model as the camera body (SD1 series and sd Quattro series) is sealed.

Full-time manual operation is possible.

Flare and ghosting are considered when designing the lens.

High-precision, robust brass bayonet mount

Electromagnetic diaphragm is also used for Nikon lenses.

Circular aperture

All lenses are inspected by Sigma's original MTF measuring instrument "A1".

Year of release can be determined.

Compatible with the MC-11 mount converter

Compatible with USB dock

Compatible with Sigma's Mount Exchange Service
