Product Features
Interchangeable lens with dustproof and drip-proof construction for reliability and durability in various outdoor environments.
- Super-telephoto 3x zoom lens
When attached to a K-mount digital SLR camera, this lens provides an ultra-telephoto angle of view equivalent to approximately 230-690mm in 35mm format focal length. This compact design enables hand-held shooting of long-distance subjects such as wild birds, airplanes, and sports photography, and is suitable for those seeking excellent handling.
- High descriptive performance
The latest lens design using three elements of special low-dispersion (ED) glass and one element of anomalous low-dispersion glass effectively suppresses spherical aberration and chromatic aberration, resulting in high-contrast images with minimal color blurring. In addition, the latest optical design for high-resolution image sensors enables a higher MTF than conventional lenses in the same class, resulting in a finely detailed image with improved resolution. Furthermore, the image circle is designed to have enough room to cover 35mm-format film SLR cameras, so when the lens is attached to current digital SLR cameras, users can enjoy sharp, high-resolution images from the corners of the screen, and it can also accommodate future increases in the size of the image sensor.
- HD Coating" for enhanced descriptive performance
The lens employs our unique "HD Coating" high-performance multi-coating technology. Compared to conventional multi-coatings, the HD Coating is less reflective and has higher transmittance, which reduces ghosting and flare in backlit and other harsh lighting conditions, resulting in clear, high-contrast images.
- Dustproof and drip-proof construction
The lens is sealed at 21 locations to prevent water droplets and dust from entering the lens. Combined with a digital SLR body that is dustproof and drip-proof, the lens offers improved durability and reliability in rain, fog, and splashing water.
- Newly equipped quick-shift focus system switching switch
To improve the convenience of the "Quick-shift Focus System," which allows manual focusing without switching from autofocus to manual focusing, three new switches, QFS/A, QFS/M, and MF, have been added. and MF switches are provided to improve the convenience of the Quick-shift Focus System. In QFS/A mode, which gives priority to autofocusing, manual focusing can be performed after autofocusing is completed. In QFS/M mode, which gives priority to manual focusing, manual focusing can be performed immediately while autofocusing is in operation, and in MF mode, the lens can quickly switch to MF In MF mode, the lens can be quickly switched to MF mode for smoother and more accurate focusing depending on the subject.
- Four AF buttons (*1)
Four AF buttons (*1) are positioned at 90-degree intervals on the lens barrel to ensure stable AF operation while the lens is held firmly in place, regardless of whether it is in the vertical or horizontal position. The AF button is assigned to the following functions: "Focus Preset Mode," which memorizes a pre-registered focus position and moves the lens to that position; "AF Cancel," which forcibly locks the focus position during continuous AF; and "Focus Preset Mode," which allows the user to set the focus position to a specific position. The "AF Cancel" function can be assigned to force the focus position to be fixed during continuous AF.
(*1: Currently compatible only with the PENTAX K-3. (*1: Currently compatible only with the PENTAX K-3; camera firmware update is required to use this function.)
- Other Features
Quiet and smooth autofocus operation is achieved by the in-lens motor-driven autofocus.
Circular diaphragm reduces glare when shooting point light sources and produces a soft bokeh effect.
Three-stage "Focus Range Limiter" that limits the focus range to shorten the AF time.
The front surface of the lens is coated with a stain-resistant SP (Super Protect) coating.
Zoom lock lever" prevents the lens barrel from dropping under its own weight.
A detachable tripod mount with a newly developed dropout prevention mechanism
