- A new generation of high-performance ★ (star) lenses that pursue ideal image quality
In anticipation of the further evolution of camera bodies in the future, the new-generation "Star" lenses have been designed to achieve a significant improvement in resolving power, in particular, by correcting various aberrations to the utmost limit to achieve sharp and clear images from the center to the periphery. It delivers extremely high resolving power from the maximum aperture, while also enhancing the beauty of bokeh and close-range rendering performance. With a maximum aperture of 1.4, the extremely bright viewfinder provides a bright viewfinder image that will inspire you to take pictures, making the most of the out-of-focus background in portrait photography, indoor hand-held photography, and landscape photography.

- The latest optical technology
Three high-performance Super ED glass elements are used in the optical system to reduce chromatic aberration to an extremely high degree. In addition, the use of a single glass-molded aspherical lens also corrects spherical aberration, resulting in clear, high-contrast images from the center to the periphery from the maximum aperture. Distortion is corrected to almost zero at a subject distance of approximately 4 m, and the lens delivers a clean image with little distortion throughout the entire range from infinity to the shortest shooting distance. In combination with the HD Coating, a high-performance multi-coating that suppresses average reflectance in the visible light range to approximately 50% or less compared to conventional coatings, the HD Coating effectively suppresses ghosting and flare in backlit and other harsh lighting conditions.

- Dustproof and drip-proof construction
The lens is sealed in eight locations to prevent water droplets and dust from entering the lens. Combined with our digital SLR bodies that are dustproof and drip-proof, the lens offers improved durability and reliability in rain, fog, and splashing water.

- Newly developed SDM with dedicated ring-type ultrasonic motor
The newly developed SDM is equipped with a dedicated ring-type ultrasonic motor.
The new SDM provides approximately 1.3 times the torque of the HD PENTAX-D FA 50mm F1.4 SDM AW and delivers fast and smooth autofocusing.

- Electromagnetic diaphragm for smooth and precise exposure control in movie mode
