Product Features
- First ultra-wide-angle half-macro photography on LUMIX that opens up new avenues of expression. LEICA DG SUMMILUX" large-aperture, ultra-wide-angle single-focal length lens
The LEICA DG SUMMILUX meets Leica's strict optical standards and achieves the brightness and superior descriptive performance of the F1.7 "SUMMILUX" maximum aperture. With a focal length of 18mm*1, the ultra-wide-angle lens offers excellent descriptive performance from the center to the periphery of the image, enabling photographic and video expression with a sense of realism thanks to dynamic perspective. The lens construction consists of 12 elements in 9 groups with 2 aspherical lenses that suppress spherical aberration and distortion to achieve high resolution performance. The large aperture and F1.7 maximum aperture allow for beautiful bokeh effects and low-light shooting, such as night scenes and dark interior scenes. In addition, despite its large aperture, the lens offers half-macro shooting with a maximum magnification of 0.25x (35mm film camera equivalent: 0.5x), allowing for both free composition of out-of-focus effects and the dynamic expression of ultra-wide angle photography.
- Advanced movie performance for high-quality image expression
The inner-focusing system enables high-speed and high-precision autofocusing. In movie shooting, the camera suppresses the bleeding phenomenon, in which the angle of view changes as the focus position shifts during focusing, to minimize the change in angle of view during focus feed. The focus ring rotation angle can be changed when linear is selected by selecting linear/non-linear in MF mode on the camera body, and the focus drive amount can be adjusted according to the rotation angle to realize intuitive and fine focusing like a cinema lens.
- Compact, lightweight, filter-mountable, highly mobile and robust specifications
The compact and lightweight Micro Four Thirds lens offers mobility and a design that fits comfortably in your hand, allowing you to easily take the lens out for snapshots and vlogging (video blogging). Although an ultra-wide-angle lens, it is filter-mountable, so a 55mm diameter filter can be attached according to your needs, allowing you to use filters according to your photographic intentions. The front surface of the lens is coated with a fluorine coating to prevent dirt from adhering to the lens surface, and if it does adhere, it can be easily removed. The lens is dustproof and drip-proof*, and is also resistant to low temperatures (-10°C), enabling full-scale photography in a variety of fields.
(*When attached to our dustproof and drip-proof camera bodies. Although the camera is designed to be dustproof and drip-proof, it does not completely prevent dust and water droplets from entering the lens.)
