- Expands the shooting range by achieving a wide-angle end of 16mm (24.8mm in 35mm equivalent) and a zoom magnification of approximately 18.8x

In response to the demand to capture a wider range of subjects than with conventional all-in-one zoom lenses, we have developed a lens with an unprecedented 16mm wide-angle end. The telephoto end has also been extended to a super-telephoto range of 300mm (35mm equivalent 465mm). From wide-angle to ultra-telephoto, you can enjoy an unprecedentedly powerful change in angle of view.

- Reliable high image quality as an everyday lens

The lens construction consists of 16 elements in 12 groups. The lens construction consists of 16 elements in 12 groups: 3 glass molded aspherical lenses, 1 compound aspherical lens, 2 LD (Low Dispersion) lenses, 1 XR (Extra Refractive Index: high refractive index) glass element, and 1 UXR (Ultra-Extra Refractive Index (Ultra-Extra Refractive Index) glass, which has a higher refractive index than XR glass, to thoroughly correct various aberrations. In addition, the latest coating technology suppresses light reflection and significantly reduces ghosting and flare, resulting in clear, crisp, high image quality.

The introduction of UXR glass, which contributes to a smaller front ball diameter, the effective placement of glass-molded aspherical lenses, and the adoption of a 5-group shifted zoom system that increases design flexibility have all been achieved by combining the latest optical design technologies, advanced mechanical design technologies, and high-precision lens processing technologies to realize a compact body while achieving a higher magnification and image quality. - Minimum focus distance of 0.39m enables full-fledged macro photography

The minimum focusing distance of 0.39 m and maximum magnification of 1:2.9 are achieved throughout the entire zoom range. This allows the photographer to get very close to the subject and enjoy full-fledged macro photography without stress.

- Comfortable AF operation with "PZD" ultrasonic motor

The "PZD (Piezo Drive)" standing-wave ultrasonic motor delivers faster and quieter AF operation. The B008's enhanced support for contrast AF makes focusing even smoother when shooting in live-view mode. The B008 also features a full-time manual focus mechanism, which was not available in the B008, for improved convenience when focusing.

- Sharp and Stable Photography with Image Stabilization Mechanism

The B008 is equipped with the VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization mechanism, which is renowned for its stable viewfinder image stability. The VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism prevents blurred images caused by camera shake and produces sharp, stable images.

- Redesigned exterior design

Aiming to create a prestigious lens suitable for digital SLR cameras, we developed a new exterior design with enhanced textures in each part. The new design has a neat and luxurious appearance, including a zoom ring and focus ring with an elaborate grid pattern based on straight lines and a tungsten silver brand ring with a heavy texture.
