Standard zoom lens with a focal length range from 16mm wide-angle (equivalent to 24mm on a 35mm film camera) to 50mm medium telephoto (equivalent to 76mm on a 35mm film camera).
It combines the high resolution performance of the fifth-generation back-illuminated “X-Trans CMOS 5 HR” sensor (approx. 40.2 megapixels) of the “X series” across the entire zoom range with a weight of approximately 240g, the lightest among the “XF lens” zoom lenses.

In addition, its high-speed, high-precision AF, maximum magnification of 0.3x at the telephoto end (equivalent to a maximum magnification of 0.45x in 35mm format), dustproof, drip-proof, and -10°C low-temperature resistant construction make it ideal for a wide range of shooting situations.

The lens construction consists of 11 elements in 9 groups, including 3 aspherical lens elements and 3 ED lens elements. The lens suppresses magnification chromatic aberration and axial chromatic aberration, and delivers high resolution performance throughout the entire zoom range.
The lens covers a versatile focal range from a wide-angle 16mm (equivalent to 24mm on a 35mm film camera) for landscape and group shots to a medium telephoto 50mm (equivalent to 76mm on a 35mm film camera) for portrait photography.
Maximum magnification of 0.3x at the telephoto end (equivalent to 0.45x in 35mm film format). The minimum focusing distance is 24cm across the entire zoom range, allowing the photographer to get as close as 15cm from the tip of the lens.

The inner focus system uses a linear motor to drive the compact and lightweight focus lens group. The compact size of the focus lens group enables a high-speed, high-precision AF of approximately 0.015 seconds*4 to ensure that the decisive moment is not missed.
