The G lens delivers high image quality and beautiful blurring effects with an overwhelmingly compact and lightweight lens barrel design. Wide-angle single focal length lens with high quality and intuitive operability.

This wide-angle single focal length lens combines the high image quality of a G lens with a compact and lightweight design, making it ideal for shooting landscapes, buildings, and self portraits by taking advantage of the 24mm angle of view. The use of aluminum for the exterior and hood provides a high quality feel. The lens is also equipped with a focus hold button and an aperture ring that can be clicked to switch between apertures for intuitive operation.

Three single focal length lenses (FE 24mm F2.8 G, FE 40mm F2.5 G, and FE 50mm F2.5 G) are now available in a compact, lightweight design that delivers the high image quality of a G lens. The lens can be used for a variety of subjects and scenes. In addition, the use of aluminum for the exterior and hood provides a high quality feel. An aperture ring and other controls make the lens intuitive to use. The system is well-balanced when mounted on either a full-size or APS-C E-mount body, and delivers the “joy of shooting,” the “satisfaction of ownership,” and the “pleasure of changing lenses” to all α users.

High-resolution and low chromatic aberration throughout the entire image range 

The latest optical design, including the use of three aspherical lenses and ED glass, delivers high-resolution images and minimizes chromatic aberration across the entire image range.

7-blade circular aperture for beautiful and natural blurring

In addition to a maximum aperture of 2.8, the lens features spherical aberration control and a 7-blade circular diaphragm to achieve beautiful, natural-looking blur.

Maximum magnification of 0.13x (0.19x in MF mode) for close-up photography

With a minimum focusing distance of 0.24 m (0.18 m at MF) and a maximum magnification of 0.13x (0.19x at MF), the camera's close-up shooting capability allows you to get close to your subject to capture a blurred background.

AF performance for both still and moving images

Two linear motors provide high-speed, high-precision, high-following, and quiet AF. The AF performance of the latest E-mount bodies can be fully utilized. Even with large moving subjects, the camera can meet the photographer's demands and capture every detail.

Customizable Focus Hold Button

The focus hold button can be customized by assigning the desired function. For example, when shooting landscapes, you can assign “grid lines” to quickly check the composition.

Aperture Ring with Click Switching

The aperture ring provides highly responsive operation. When the aperture ring is on, you can feel how much the aperture has moved, which is useful for still photography, and when it is off, the aperture ring suppresses the clicking sound and allows seamless changes in aperture value, making it ideal for movie shooting.

Linear response MF with low time lag and excellent responsiveness

Linear-response MF system responds to delicate ring operations during manual focusing. Focus movement is linear to the ring rotation angle, enabling precise focusing that directly reflects the photographer's intent.
