The new lens is 82.2mm x 149.0mm (at wide end), 26mm shorter in overall length than the previous model (*1), while achieving a maximum aperture of F4 across the entire zoom range, thanks to the ingenious arrangement of optical elements, a compact, state-of-the-art image stabilization mechanism, and the use of a lightweight, high-precision, high thrust XD linear motor of the latest design. The lens is compact and lightweight, weighing approximately 794g (*2), and 46g (*3) lighter than its predecessor (*1). The compact and lightweight design also makes it easy to use in combination with compact α-series cameras for long hours of handheld shooting. The lens is also equipped with a variable-length system for easy portability. In addition, a zoom lock switch prevents the lens barrel from accidentally extending out while being carried. The high portability and mobility of the FE 70-200mm F/3.5 allows for a wider range of shooting fields, increasing the freedom of situations in which photography is possible.
