The camera employs a 35 mm full-size CMOS image sensor with low-pass filter-less specifications that prioritizes resolution performance and produces high-resolution images of approximately 36.4 effective megapixels. In addition, a new accelerator unit optimizes the image information from the full-size image sensor and feeds it to the "PRIME IV" high-performance image processing engine to maintain high resolution throughout the entire range from normal sensitivity to ultra-high sensitivity. In-body image stabilization available with all attachable lenses*4

SR II (Shake Reduction II) is a unique in-body 5-axis image stabilization mechanism that enables precise control of the large full-size image sensor and can be used with all PENTAX lenses.
