Product Features
Professional-use, high-performance standard lens with dust-proof, drip-proof, and low-temperature resistance, featuring high resolution performance from a wide F1.2 aperture and beautiful bokeh effect
- High resolution performance from a maximum aperture of F1.2
To achieve high resolution performance from the center to the periphery even with a large aperture of F1.2, 19 elements including 8 special lenses are luxuriously and effectively arranged to suppress all aberrations. The use of Super ED and ED lenses not only suppresses color smearing (axial chromatic aberration) during out-focusing, but also effectively corrects chromatic smearing (lateral chromatic aberration) in the peripheral image by the color-blocking effect of the joint lens consisting of the E-HR lens and HR lens.
In addition, the effective use of Z Coating Nano, a coating technology that delivers a clear, crisp image, significantly reduces ghosting and flare in backlit and other situations, and is effective when shooting with a strong light source in the image.
- Beautiful bokeh effect by taking advantage of large aperture
The design takes into consideration not only the aberration of the in-focus image, but also the aberration and shape of the out-of-focus image, resulting in a bokeh effect that changes smoothly from the in-focus plane. This, combined with the high resolution of the focus plane at maximum aperture, enables expression with a natural three-dimensional feel.
- Focusing for Quick and Accurate Capture of the Focusing Surface
The MSC mechanism is used in large-aperture lenses to achieve optimal AF for both still and moving images. The advanced optical design suppresses aberration fluctuations even when a single focusing lens is driven, allowing the camera to quickly and accurately capture a high-resolution focusing plane. The lens supports high-speed, high-precision autofocusing for still images and quiet, smooth autofocusing for movies.
Even with a shallow depth of field, the camera can focus quickly and accurately. By selecting Face Recognition AF or Eye Detection AF on the camera side, you can shoot portraits with beautiful bokeh effects by precisely focusing on the face and pupils.
Combined with the OM-D's silent mode, this feature is also useful for shooting in places where no sound can be made, such as piano recitals.
- Clear point-by-point rendering with minimal coma aberration
The lens has the ability to depict point images, which is necessary for starry landscape photography that takes advantage of the brightness of a large-aperture F1.2 lens. To effectively correct coma aberration, which is a problem with large-aperture lenses, an aspherical lens is used near the aperture and HR lenses are used extensively, achieving both F1.2 brightness and high optical performance that captures dots as dots from the maximum aperture.
- Other Features
Dustproof and drip-proof mechanism with 11 sealed locations: Combined with the dustproof, drip-proof and low-temperature resistant body of the OM-D series, the camera can withstand harsh shooting environments.
The M.ZUIKO PRO series' high-quality design with a metal exterior has been retained. Manual focus clutch mechanism allows manual focus by pulling the focus ring toward you. A depth-of-field scale is provided for pan-focusing and visual measurement. The L-Fn button on the lens barrel can be used to assign functions according to the camera's custom settings, including "AF stop.
The minimum focusing distance is 30 cm (working distance 19.5 cm), and the maximum magnification is 0.11x (0.22x in 35 mm format).
