Product Features

A new generation of high-performance star lenses that can accommodate future camera body evolution.
It delivers outstanding descriptive performance and high resolution from the center to the periphery of the image at maximum aperture.

- A maximum aperture of 1.4, a new generation of high-performance ★ (star) lenses
The "★ (Star)" series lenses were developed as a new generation of star lenses with significantly improved resolving power, especially in anticipation of the further evolution of camera bodies in the future. The new series has been developed as a new generation of star lenses with a significantly improved resolving power. In addition to extremely high resolution performance from the maximum aperture, the lens also offers beautiful bokeh effect and enhanced descriptive performance at close range. This product, the first of a new generation of star lenses, is a large-aperture standard lens with an extremely bright maximum aperture of 1.4, making it suitable for a wide variety of subjects, including portrait photography and hand-held indoor photography, taking advantage of the blur effect of the background.

- The latest optical technology is utilized.
The lens employs our proprietary "Aero Bright Coating II" nanotechnology, which achieves excellent low reflection characteristics through an ultra-low refractive index film formation process. In combination with the HD Coating, a high-performance multi-coating that reduces the average reflectance in the visible light range to approximately 50% or less compared to conventional coatings, this coating effectively suppresses ghosting and flare under severe shooting conditions, such as backlighting. In addition, the use of three elements of anomalous low-dispersion glass and one aspherical lens element corrects chromatic and spherical aberrations to deliver clear, high-contrast images from the center to the periphery. Furthermore, distortion is corrected to almost zero at a subject distance of approximately 1 m, enabling clean and clear images with little distortion throughout the entire range from infinity to the shortest shooting distance.

- Dustproof and drip-proof construction
The lens is sealed in eight locations to prevent water droplets and dust from entering the lens. Combined with Ricoh digital SLR bodies that are dustproof and drip-proof, the lens offers improved durability and reliability in rain, fog, and splashing water.

- Newly developed ring-type SDM ultrasonic motor
A newly developed ring-type SDM ultrasonic motor is used to drive the autofocus. This motor has approximately 7.5 times the torque of the motor used in the SDM of conventional DA* lenses, enabling fast and smooth operation of the rear group of the lens, which has many heavy elements that move during focusing.

- A 9-element circular aperture suppresses glow when shooting point light sources and produces a soft bokeh effect up to F2.8.

- Minimum focusing distance of 40cm, convenient for shooting with bokeh effect.

- Electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism for smooth and precise exposure control in movie mode*.
(*Compatible models are K-1 Mark II, K-1, K-3 II, K-3, KP, K-70, K-50, K-S2, K-S1)

- Super Protect (SP) coating on the front of the lens to protect against stains
